Just curious. Yesterday I did 3 somewhat large tribal pieces (about the size of my hand), and one took about 2 1/2 hours to complete. I know that on large pieces, the artist may do the outline in one session and the coloring in another.

What's the longest time you've ever spent in one session?

Also, has anyone here done a full back piece? I'm going to start one on my fiance' and would welcome any suggestions. Like, has anyone here used those huge needle groupings? They look intimidating to me.

well the longest I have worked on someone is about 6 hours Id say . I dont really think it matters how long u work on someone as long as u both arent getting to worn out , I mean fatige has to set in sometime . Unless u can tell the oersons skin is just starting to react like u see thier pores really open up and stay swollenand it is bleeding exessivly , then It dont really matter .

I have worked on people who take in just fine , then after a few hours , somthing kicks in and they just start to bleed exessivly with every new stroke , so thats when I would give it a rest . and no I have never done a full back piece ...cant wait though

How long did it take you to complete the back piece from beginning to end? How many sessions?

I don't think I'll lose interest with this one, because I get complete artistic control of this one and I'll get to work on it at my pace.

I'm curious Aggressive... what was the subject matter of the one you did? Do you have a photo of it?

I uses 11 mags sometimes , but they dont always work for me , so I mainly use 7 s . dont use 5mags anymore , just mainly 7mags , never do I use big rounds for any thign other than lining . ANd I dont go bigger than 8 for that , usually I just use 5 round , and 7 mag ...

AG.. that back piece sounds awesome. I would love to see it if you ever run across the photo!

Runic: I bought some 7 mags, but haven't used them yet. I'm a little scared to, because they look like you could cut someone easily with them if you didn't use them correctly. Do you still move them in small circles to shade and color? And do you use the longer row to get right in on the edge of line?

I used to use two machines , and hae one tuned to run a little lower , but lately I have reverted to my old style which is using one machine and running it with a long throw and run it a little higher ...but thats cause thats the way I was doing it for so long before . I couldnt get the other way to work for me very good , I have no problems with healing , or scarring with my work ...so I say if somthing just dosnt seem to work for you , then just use what u feel works best for u . Im not knockin what u said Aggressive , im just givin my two cents ....And when I use mags I find they work better for me if I use them in a oval motion , kinda forwards , and bachwards , more than side ways or circular ...but thats just me .

I am still getting use to the mags, I have use 5s and 7s, but I will say it is taking a little time to get use to. I was using them in that dragon and celtic crioss but the guy was always sain man those hurt worse than when I was using the the rounds. I do like the effects I got when I used them, But I am not totaly use to them yet.

Thanks for the tips guys. I still haven't used the 7 mag yet, because I don't want to learn on anyone other than me or my fiance. I'm feeling pretty comfy with my 14 rounds, but I can see the advantages of the mags. I'll let you know when I give it a go!
