on another tat board someone said the snake yates machines were o.k. but to change the a-bar & i think the coils as well... does any one use smaller or larger caps ? besides the 47's that on most machines?
i was also thinking of getting one of the machines from this site!

I bought one of the snake yates machines. My wife had to have it because it was purple and celtic shaped. It doesn't run worth a crap and sometimes not at all. it will run fine then all at once it will be like turning off a record player with out lifting the needle. I haven't taken it apart because it has 4 diff sizes of allen screws and some are metric and some are standard. I just hung mine in a display cabniet because it is a cool LOOKING machine. I will continue to use my superior machines, and am looking ito some machines sold here.

Ill keep it down mike, I bought from them for a while and they are a lot better than the kaplans i started with. I looked at paolini, and mickey sharpz but who can afford them? and national well they want a referal or a 3 year old tattoo supply recipt. Any experience with the unimax stuff sold here? I want some iron or brass machines but cant pay 200.00 bucks each for them right now. I have heard the strong man is a great liner, but which is the better shader?

my snake yates t-dial runs fine at 8 volts.
i set mine up as a shader. only thing did to it besides set up was to shim the rear coil up with 1 washer. the coil (core) was not close enough to the a-bar.
if you use a clip cord check to make sure its getting good contact to the machine! i would also adjust the gap/voltage!

I know alot of people crap on the Kaplan aluminum machines. I wasnt to crazy about mine either. But with an investment of Eikons a-bar spring kits and an EMS200, my shader now runs great @ 4 volts.

I bought a Snake Yates machine, it was a viper, I also had a problem with it cutting out and stopping on me, the remedy was a quick one, use a dremel to remove the powder coating underneath the top clip cord hole. The reason why this works is because the holes for the clip cord are bigger than the diameter of the clip on the cord itself. By removing the powder coating under the top clip cord hole it allows the flat part of the clip cord to make constant contact with the frame.
The machine was supposed to be set up for shading but it was to fast. So I changed the springs and armature bar on the machine I bought and replaced them with Eikons. The machine is a great runner now. I run my shaders at 88 Mhz. And it runs great.

he also has plans that he gives out to change your machines into rca jacks instead of clipcords. but i still think he's overrated.one girl bought his machine and the capacitor exploted.

Capacitors will over heat and leak out the top or bottom right near where the wires come out , I've seen it a few times. This usually happens because polarity is reversed. Check your capacitor to see which end is the negative end, and make sure that when you hook up your clip cord that the negative side of the clip cord is attached to the frame or post that the negative end of the capacitor is attached too. Some power supplies are not marked positive or negative, so you may have to get an inexpensive test meter and test it and mark it . also mark your clip cord if it hasn't been already.
Some machines have the capacitor facing the opposite way of others, so if you wanted to use an RCA jack set up you would have to make sure all your machines have the capacitor hook up the same way.

I love the comment about the micky sharpz machines...."who can afford them"
A professional tattoo artist, thats who
I currently own 2 sharpz microdials, and I notice a difference in my work, my lines and my hand fatigue, that $320 each was the best ive ever spent, an artist can only be as good as his machines and pigments allow, not to mention my danny fowler lifeline shader, id give you my wife b4 id give you those
