Ive used disposables also and I agree their a pain in the A$$ cuz their too light, and the grip is usially only 1/2 inch, and i use 3/4-7/8 grip for coloring, so the disp tube assemblys , no matter how convienent they are id rather have a mostly balanced machine and be able to ink without getting to tired. thats my 2 cents...maybe soneone could invent some with larger grips and with some kind of weight you can add to them..lol

you can also get disposable tubes without the grip so you can add you own...to help with weight issues

Hello,
I really don't like the idea of plastic needle bars. I have used both kinds of lexan tubes and the one that you put your own grips on are ok. But you still have to clean and sterilize the grip, so why not just use your own tube. :D

very true.....actually, i cant think of a reason why you would use them!!!!!!

Hello,

umm......if you dont have a clave, then you shouldnt be inking...not being an asshole, its just that I have worked in the medical feild(6years) as well as being a tattooist(10years) and I dont and wouldnt trust anything even if it says "Pre-sterilized" I feel safer re-sterilizing them again just to cover my ass if theres a problem. but hey I do agree that if you dont have a clave then it is cleaner using pre-sterilized tube/tip/grip assembilys than a SS and worying about infection & CC, needles though id always re-sterilize them cus you never know if they were cleaned properly before they were claved and packaged, thats just my opinion bros. 8)

Ok, so you would open new needles in the package and resterilize them? That kind of makes buying presterilized needles a moot point dont it? You might as well buy premade needles and bag and sterilize them yourself the first time around. Or make your own needles and run them through your clave.

Even if a needle or tube are sterile in the package, the moment you open them and expose them to ambient air they are no longer sterile. They are about as clean as you would ever get them but no longer sterile. Same thing with surgical instruments.

Pathogens can be blood bourne, air bourne or contact on surface right? The only way to insure 100% sterility would be to work in a sterile environment. Even then once the skin to be tattooed is exposed that environment can no longer be considered sterile.

I'm not splitting hairs here but I have to have complete confidence in the presterilized needles and tubes that I use. In all my experience and reading I've never heard a concern that a reputable supplier might have mailed out or distributed a contaminated needle or tube. I suppose it's possible though. But if I had an autoclave sitting in my shop I still wouldnt re-sterilize a prepackaged needle or tube.

I see your point, but I guess for me it is just a thing I do, It makes me feel safer when I know that there are no errors in the sterilization process, so for me it gives me peace of mind to know that I checked my needles and their clean & sterile before I use them, I use RMNB (ready made needle bars) and have had one or 2 come with holes in the packaging, so once again im just being carefull right, im not saying that everyone has to do this, its the what I do it in my shop and how I teach my apprentices, what others do is up to them. I think it is just a leftover compulsion form when I worked in the medical feild.

Hey, if we all did things exactly the same way.... We wouldnt have much to talk about...would we?

i've been watching what some folks are using ,disposible tubes and such .they suck if you ask me . you have no weight to counter balance your machine ,not to mention all the vibration ,and grip size don't help. making it hard to control. they outline for shit.i've got a kid near me ,who went to tattoo school somewhere ,come back using this stuff ,sure its safe if you don't have a clave .but we're talking about permanent art here ! why would you come at some one to do a tattoo with a machine that is unbalanced and hard to control? fighting it to do a good outline. i just don't understand the logic in this . i'm talking about producing perfection here ,not using something that gives less than perfect results. get a real clave . get real tubes and grips .and spore test your clave. you'll understand my rant when you do.

Actually, the disposables I use come with a 1" grip. That grip is solid so it does tend to lend a little weight to the front end. As far as vibration goes, none of my machines have excessive vibration that I can feel. I have some SS tubes and grips. I've experimented with them (not on skin, I dont have a clave yet) and I feel that I have as much control with a disposable 1" grip as I do with the SS stuff. One thing though. Until recently I was using a 5/8" grip tube and switching to the 1" was a huge improvement.

My stainless tubes were always sterilized and bagged at my freinds place but it just got to be a hassle with scrubbing packaging and hauling them to be claved. I just recently bought a bunch of disposables and didnt have any excessive viberation or loss of control "yeah" i have to get used to them but it looks alot better to open all disposables nand throw them away after. I was fortunate enough to have a supplier near by that sold tubes with 1 in grips because i tried the other ones with that little peice of colored rubber for a grio and wasnt very happy these ones are really good though. :D
