Starting out, each tattoo is a practice session, as I've found out- I've been lucky enough to have not screwed up anyone's body horribly, including my own- how about you? Anyone have any embarassing stories about how you fu%^ed up someone's art? ...there's got to be some out there.....we all need a laugh.... What's your worst artistic mistake while tattooing?

There's this guy I know, and he wanted a stamp-like tattoo in his neck that said "White Trash". Well, I don't know exactely who did the tattoo, but the guy ended up with "White Thrash" in his neck. One "H" too many. The funny thing is, there were 3 Englishmen present while the tattoo was done, and none of them noticed the spelling error.

oh man- can't say I'd ever want to be branded with the title "white trash"- I'd almost prefer "white thrash"

A guy came in with his girlfriend, surprise, suprise they wanted each other's names on them. On their necks, that is. Hmmmm, no problem I try to talk people into something a little more discreet and personal, but if they want a name, they want a name....
I got the stencil on real nice, got all my shit set up, got to work like usual, but when I pulled the first line it was very crooked. Okay, no big deal, stretch a little harder, go a little slower, thicken out that line and make it look all fancified...I pulled the line again, and again it was squiggly as a mo-fo. I knew for a fact I was right on with that stenciled line and that I was doing everything properly. I tried it one more time. Meanwhile, the guy's girlfriend is watching the whole time, getting more and more nervous...LOL...I asked them to hold on a minute, it just wasn't coming out right, and I wasn't going to do the whole tat like that. I got one of the other artists and asked for help...I told him, "I checked the needle, I know I'm stretching good enough, I don't know what the f##k is wrong." He looks over my equipment real quick....I FORGOT TO PUT THE RUBBER BAND ACROSS THE NEEDLE!!! Well, I told him, first time for everything, huh? I reassured my clients that now that I KNOW what I did wrong the tats would be just fine, and fortunately it was only the very first line of a letter, but I could not believe the girl still wanted to sit in my chair. I was grateful to say the least, but of course the names came out clean and pretty and they left happy customers, but I was sooooo ashamed. Needless to say they didn't let me live that down for a while

I was tattooing in San Diego and this guy comes in with his little sister. She had just turned 18 and was a real cutie. She wanted a kitten playing with a ball of string near her pubic region. Way down low. So I drew it up and made a stencil. Got set up and started to work.
I needed to get a better angle on what I was doing so I moved around in front of her. Still I couldnt get a good stretch. So she lifted her leg and draped it over my shoulder. She had her panties pulled to one side so I could work and her brother was breating down my neck. Im sitting there with my head between her legs about six inches away from what appeared to me to be lunch.
I tried to get big brother to go get a case of beer (my treat) but he wouldnt budge. I honestly dont know how I finished that tattoo and did as good a job as I did. My hands were shaking and sweat was dripping off my nose the whole time.
