I have a friend who has 4 kids & the skin to prove it. She wants something small around her belly button (tomorrow!!) and I'm unsure of what to tell her. She's not fat- her skin in that area is just saggy & has a fair share of stretch marks. What has your experience been with this??? Should I discourage her from getting anything done here, or just discourage her from getting real small intricacies?

Okay speaking from experience ink will stay in over stretch marks.
I'm assuming that she has a lot of "flabby" skin. just remember to stretchhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh the skin as much as possible even if you have to place a pillow under the small of her back(wrapped in saran wrap of course). When applying the stencil let her stand up straight and relax. If the needles seem to get caught in the skin then you aint stretching enough. Stretch even if she complains remember tattoos are supposed to be painful.Hope this helps.

Ok, get two good sized C-clamps and a 2x4 about three feet long and 25 feet of soft cotton rope. You'll also need a large pair of vise grips and a flat head screwdriver. You might also want to have a tire iron handy just in case.
Have her lie flat on a table covered in Kendall 20/50w and butter. Clamp the C-clamps to each side of her obliques (love handles) and use the 2x4 for leverage to pull the clamps to the side. Once you've achieved maximum stretch you should tie the clamp to the table with the cotton rope. Then take the vise grips and clamp them below the belly button and hang the tire iron on them for weight. You can use the flathead screwdriver for leverage while doing this. Once you have everything stretched out apply a stencil thats 5 times bigger than the tattoo you want to do. If you've done this correctly her belly button should be about the size of a Maxwell coffee can. Get out your best jack-hammer liner with a 14 round liner and lay down your outline. Pay no attention to the kicking and screaming. If it gets too loud you can always use the 2x4 for a secondary function.
No really. Just get the best stretch you can and definitly have her standing when you apply the stencil.

Hello,
Stretch the skin really good, but not to tight you will cut the skin. You might want to get an extra set of hands. In the stretch marks sometimes the ink looks differnt, kinda like it has faded a little. :D

 LMAO, Papa. Quite a lengthy post for a laugh- you earned that one. Well, it's done & I hate it. That was by far the roughest tattoo I've ever done- very frustrating. The problem with the "extra hands" (her own) was that if she moved AT ALL it fucked me up. And of course, she had to choose the most intricate of celtic pieces. It's not horrible, but certainly not work that I'm very proud of. At least she won't be showing off her belly area with baby tees any time soon. If anyone wants to see it, let me know and I'll pm you- I doubt I'll be posting it or anything else to the album anytime soon- what a drag that all the previous postings got wiped out!!! I'd be way too red hot pissed if it happened again- my pc is not as fast as I'd like, so it was somewhat time consuming for me to post all those pics (I'm very impatient with my pc, and may just put my fist through it if I have to do it all over again- how would I tattoo with a bloodied hand??).
