I use spirit papers, all you do is put your drawing or flash on top of the paper and trace the outline, no need to mirror the image or anything, then just take the duplicate and apply to skin with some speedstick or some neosporin.
The alcohol will remove the stencil if you need to place it differently. Usually get a box of 100 sheets of spirit paper for around $25. if the designs are small you can get a bunch of stencils out of just one sheet.
I also have the pencils and the surgical markers. The pencils I have not used, and the markers I used to fill in the gaps between stencils for large pieces. from what i understand about the pencil you just trace your design onto tracing paper then apply it to the skin using the same methods as above, maybee your not putting enough "lead" onto the tracing paper, press down harder when tracing, then transfer to skin. ill give it a try with mine and see what i can do... let you know soon

You want to refrain from using "Speed Stick" to applyy your stencils unless you're only using it once then throwing it away. I used to use it myself until it was pointed out to me that it is a CC risk.
Now I use greensoap sprayed onto a paper towel and blotted onto the skin. I actually get much better results.
Blot it on and give it about 5 seconds to "tack up". Then apply your stencil.

im going to try the green soap thing soon. ive been using deoderant as well for a while untill i learned here about the cc issue, latly i rip a viva in half and fold it the cover it with the deoderant and use that and throw it away. it seems to work better , i had a tendency to use too much deoderent the old wayand it took a while to dry.
On another note i had also completly lost a stencil for the first time the other day, i wiped and half of it just completely dissapeared. so for now on once the stencil drys i wipe it with green soap , if its comming off i want it to before i start.

Losing the stencil is a complete drag. It causes you to have to adlib on the design and possibly throws off the entire project.
If I have a large stencil applied to the skin and I feel that I might lose part of it before I get to it with the outliner here's what I do. First I give the stencil a good while to dry. Ten to fifteen minutes. I work at home and with one client at a time so I'm not rushed to get to the next client. I spend a while setting up my machines and workstation while the stencil is drying. If it's anything bigget than about three inches square I go ahead and reoutline with the surgical pen. Once that stuff is dry it takes straight alcohol and some serious scrubbing to get it off.

I've got a dozen of those hectograph pencils. I.M.O. using spirit paper is much better. Too much pencil sharpening the hectograph lead is brittle, inconsistent line width on the stencil .
