i am just about to start using mags on a tribal piece do i use them the same as flats speeds etc

you should work a bit faster with mags and circle! :)

i find with mags more of an oval than a circle

You should also try to make sure your not working a mag too hard or at too acute an angle. Set the angle at slightly more than 45 degrees and hold the tube semi loosely. Let it just brush against the skin in a circular motion for shade effects and just a tad more pressure for solid color.

just used a 5 mag on a tribal back piece this weekend for the first time
and i was well impressed i did the whole piece first pass with just a couple of bits needed a second pass and hardley any blood
i needed to go up 1/2 a volt and it went in a treat
