I wipe mine down with bleach, and every now and then tear it down and sterilize it in the autoclave. Heard people say they dunk thier machines, but I don't see how. I also use bags.

I bag my machines, but I also spray them down with alcohol after each use. My friend used to use bleach and a little distilled water combo but was having some problems with rust on some of his machines. The alcohol evaporates quickly so no rusting.
i'v had some problems with rust on my machine as well. i spray it down with simple green and soak for 10 plus minutes and then spray with water. will achohol aviod rusting in the future? and are there any health risks assosiated with rust on an open wound?

I'll make sure not to rub my tattoo machine on anyone's new tattoo.
Doesn't dunking your machines in any kind of liquid mess up the coils???

Yes it does and other nasty things!!!. Don't "dunk" them in anything!!. Just wipe them down with a wipe moistened with disinfectant.

so autoclave everything except the coils, I clean mine after each time, and also disassemble every night at closing.

Wow, what an old thread back from the dead....you really take your machines apart every night? Are you nuts? how are you going to get it tuned consistently every day? Why waste your time trying?...get your bbp and cc cert and you should know how to take care of your machines cleaning....
