Riding the tube Question?

sorry If I asked a question thats probally in the forum but what a good depth for riding the tube I'm new so I'll be doing some riding for now is it 1/32 or 1/16 ? and thats the right depth for good ink? no blow outs?

I live in Sweden so im not to used to your measuring system..

But i have the needle out about 1½ millimeters.. When i ride the tube!
No blowouts then!

For me I do the same as MisterGG, About 1 1/2MM to 2 MM has worked for myself when riding the tube, but have have been working with riding the needle found to be less smearing of the ink.

Duger, when doing that I mean riding the needle how much does the needle stick out the tube when the armature bar is pressed?cause I've been practicing riding the tube an yea dam thing is hard to see where i'm going can't see the line;(

Hey BIGBUCK with out measuring and guessing I would say with the A bar down about 4 MM / 3/16".

Sorry about that hit the wrong button before I finished.
When riding the tube and having the needle out about 2 mm, when riding the needle and having it out farther, you'll have to judge how far the needle will be entering the skin, so with the needle out farther you'll need half the distance from the skin to the tube. Other thing to remember that the needle need to reload with ink up the up stroke of the armiture bar so you'll want a slight gap from the skin, And remeber to strech the skin.

my two cents..
if you try 3/16 with the a-bar down you'll get a blowout for sure. let the needle stick out between 1/16 and 1/32 with the a -bar down especially for lining. but just remember to dab excess ink of the needle before each touch cause riding the tube tends to get messy.
