Simple green is pretty good stuff. Have you ever read the list of stuff it kills?

If you really want the simple green from hell, there is a formula called "Simple Green-D" this will kill HIV-1 you can find it on the simple green websight under the industrial tab.

Never heard of spraynine. I know simple green isn't bad, its water based and according to the MSDS health hazard rating you could probably drink it without without any harm other than a funky taste. Im not sure what the disinfectant is in simple green-d so i don't know.

what up Hardskull, Gremlin. I never heard of simple green I will give it a try I use cidex but I read an article on unimax web site that said it was not good to use for tattooing. I was wondering if just alchol would work. remember it's just pre soak until I have time to clave them.

I have read of guys spraying there machines with alcohol to clean it,they said it works well because it evaporates and does not cause rust.I would believe alcohol would be a good choice to soak tubes in before sterilizing

I use alcohol to pre-soak my tubes. Firs I scrub them, put them in the ultrasonic, soak in alcohol then into the clave they go. Seems to work really well.

i scrub my tubes with an un-scented anti-bacterial soap then they get put in the ultra-sonic till I remember to take them out (i use powdered organisol in the ultra-sonic ), rinse then I put them in Medica28plus bath (used to use wavicide , but i heard theres too many carcinogens in it) , rinse let dry and bag for the clave !!!!

"Spray9" a good cleaner but very harsh if not mistakin one of the main Ingredents is Bleach, Simple Green didn't think of that but works great on cleaning my bike...........LOL.
I read else where about using Murphy's Oil Soap as a pre-cleaner, and a Ammonia & Distilled water mix as a final cleaning.

I also use dispossable tubes and one time use of all needles at all times.I also use benz-all for soaking some of my equipment,it also contains asufficient anti-rust matrial for one gallon of the finished disinfection solution.Alot of tattoo suppliiers carry it and i also use Virkon in my work area along with other disinfectants.I spend anywhere from an hour or close to two hours cleaning my work area before and after tattooing.I only permit the person getting tattooed and myself in that room at all times,if they have a problem with not being able to have thier buddy be a spectator than they can go somewhere else .I am very strict when it comes to cross contamination,I have and will keep on studying and gathering more info in these areas.

All you people that are saying this or that kills HIV should take a hard look at things, plain soap and water will kill the HIV virus as will sitting out of the human body for more than something like 30 seconds. HIV as far as virii go is one of the most fragile there is outside of the body.
When I am done with a piece and take the tubes off the machine they go into a plain water soak (covered instrument tray) until I clean them with the brushes and running water and put them in the ultrasonic. If you are following propper procerure and wearing protective gloves etc while cleaning (like we all should be) you dont really need a special solution to soak in, at least thats what the local health board had to say about it. Remember it's the clave that kills the virii and spores that may have accumulated in the tubes and tips etc. not your cleaning before hand, although if you dont clean properly you cant expect the clave to do its job right either.
As far as chemical content for any soaks or sprays that have contents in them that will disinfect they should contain dimethyl benzyl ammonium cloride and dimethyl ethylbenzyl ammonium cloride.
