I use nipples personally, mainly because they are easier to get the needle on for me.

i use grommets personally simply because thats what im used to
i think it comes down to personal preference but i have read that a lot of pros use nipples when useing mags but never explained why :?:

I just switched over to nipples, it's a little easier to change needles mid tattoo with them.

Nipples / top hats, much easier to use instead of struggling to squeeze the grommet on the needle, put the top hat on the armature bar, slide the eye of the needle straight on, easy. My tattooist then tightens the eye of the needle with long nose pliers to ensure a tighter fit. I have used the paper towel as well when I ran out of grommets.

Nipples here, I've tried the tape & the paper towels, there is no comparison , they wear too fast & the needle is loose in a couple minutes. Nipples are cheap , easy & last :!:

Hello folks, New to this forum and it rocks. Looks like a good group of people helping each other out.

Just had to finally register since everyone is talking about nipples :P

Oh God, I love nipples. I've used grommets in the past and had good luck with them. I've also used a folded piece of paper towel and it worked just fine too. I was watching Miami Ink tonight and noticed that Chris Garver had a big wad of paper towel stuck on his armature bar holding the needle. It was so big it loked like a moth had landed on his machine and was flapping it's wings.
