I am confused. The Ultimate Tattoo book states that lining is done at a 45 degree angle to the skin - or am I mistaken? I thought all lining is to be done at a 90 degree angle to the skin and not 45 degrees.

I stay as close to 90 as possible. I just say whatever works stick with it

If you're using the right tube with the right needle then the needle shouldn't be moving around too much inside the tip.

I line somewere between 70 and 90 degrees . You cause the skin to much trauma if you line at 90 degrees .
Keep a small angle , it will help you to see were the needle is.
This is not a fact, just my 2 cents.

be carefull , too much of an angle will cause blow - outs !!!! :( !!!!!
Everytime I get even close to 45 degrees, I get blow out stains under the skin..so I try to stay at 90
