Tattoo history

I have seen all kinds of questions asked here, how to tune machines etc... I never have seen a question about tattoo history. So how about a section where we could post some tattoo history stuff. I was always told in school "you cant move into the future without knowing about the past".

Now that would be really interesting particular early electric tattoo machines by I think Samuel Reilly who was supposed to of had the first patented machine but his was not the first apparently. How about a gallery of early tattoo machines or machines of all odd and peculiar shapes from the old to the new to the wacky. It interests me about how the poor people in places like India tattoo on the pavements with battery operated home made machines with no steralisation at all, how do they not get infected? A piece on that would be cool.

yep el exactly, what I have in mind is since some people getting into tattooing have no idea about where it came from and who peeps were like charles wagner, bert grim, sailor jerry collins, lyle tuttle, sailor jerry swallow, ed hardy, or about the moko of the maori or the peya of the south pacific. I think that a section on tattoo history would be good for this site. who knows some of the ones who only know about the modern tattoo artist may do a little research and learn more than just how to hammer ink.

:idea: also pictures would be nice see others works and old history works of art also would be nice to see some pictures or diaghrams of some of these topics you all talk about pictures sure would help alot of the explantions of example setting up your equipment etc :idea: :D
