Hey everyone,
I am very new here but the information I have gotten since I've been here is terrific so I have a question that I hope hasn't already been discussed.

Anyway, I finished a tattoo on my best friend. He and myself are the only people I have done work on. Basically it was a flower with a "mom" banner underneath it. I don't necassarily like the tattoo but he and his mom loved it. It has personal meaning. So, I shaded the petals in red and everything was awesome for the first maybe 5-6 days. Recently it has all peeled off and the color has lightened and dulled a decent amount. I'm not sure whether it's me being the perfectionist that I am or what. When you're about a foot away it looks fine but when you get closer it seems almost blotchy and definitely lighte. I used a 5RS which seemed a bit small for the size of the petals but i didn't have the tubes for my 7mags yet so I was forced to use the 5RS'. Anyway, I'm not sure whether it was a depth issue or whether it was a needle issue or what but I definitely need some advice. I was shading in small circles and not quite riding the tube but very close(I like barely being able to see my needle). All my lining came out perfect but this shading is killing me.

P.S. Also, I am completely steril with all of this. I know this causes a ruckus around here and it definitely should.

Thanks for any help or advice offered.

-Will

Don't be to harsh on yourself yet. Give it another 14 days.

i agree wait for it to heal, i tattoo on myself alot and after a few days it looks really faded then when it heals the blacks arent faded there nice and dark and the colors are nice and bright. i have a star on my wrist i did couple days after i did it it looked like hell, i did not want to go over it because it hurt like hell, so i waited for it to heal and looks really good now.

Yeah, definitely let it completely heal. Majority of tattoos look good for the first few days then will dull out. I noticed this more with guys than girls.. Maybe girls just take better care of their skin? little by little during the healing process the brightness comes back. Don't sweat it.... yet.
