I have an A/C shader that has started to run hot after a half hour of use. Is this a sign of tired coils?. They would have had about 300 + hours of use.

I was having the same problem with mine, I tried everything from changing capacitors to coils, but in the end I just ran it at about 4 v on my PS and that sees to work well and keep it cool...good results with coloring/shading also..

OK. I haven't run the volts that low. No caps on A/C.

check the bottom of your coils-maybe the wires are frayed?shorting out your machine.(r they wraped?)ohm them out..

I have 2 D/C Spaulding Rogers '85 with 8 and 10 wrap coils and they run fine too.
It was the spring on the A/c. They can generate some heat!! Thanks for the replies.
