After becoming a member of this forum and learning an hell of a lot about CC & BBP I am very aware of my duty and responsibility to do a good job and to look after the people that I tattoo. I was just wondering what you all use to clean your tip inbetween colours and if one way is better than the another. Let me explain, looking over past posts spraying alcohol in the tip reservoir seems popular in the USA but from what I have seen in the UK even my own artist it seems popular to fill your ultrasonic with cold tap water, place two disposable plastic cups in the ultrasonic, one having cold tap water and a little washing up liquid, the other having just cold tap water, the idea been to dip the tip in the washing up liquid water to clean the tip and then in the clean water for the final rinse which should remain clean, I was wondering if a green soap solution would be better with it containing alcohol. The ultrasonic that I have is not powerful enough to hold a cup of water and I intend to purchase an Ultrawave U50 and probably some green soap from DTS in the next couple of weeks. Any views would be greatfully received.

I use alcohol works fine for me, if you go ultrasonic dont use tapwater, use distilled there could be all sorts of nasties in tap water.

Im a blaster. Hold the machine over the trashcan and aim my stream of alcohol into the open top of the tube and blast the ink away.

I'm with Papa Gee on this. When switching between the liner and shader, I'll spray it out and then sit the machine on a stand with the tube & needle in a cup of alcohol. It keeps it nice and clean between uses.

I use a squeeze wash out bottle w/ distilled water, in addition to a small plastic cup filled w/ distilled water .

i would'nt use boiled water but you could proabably use the water recovered from your autoclave after its been through a cycle, someone correct me if im wrong.

I use the ultrasonic/distilled water in cup method, Does a great job, quickly, just remember when using this method you need to keep your set-up (ultrasonic) away from your equipment preferably in a secluded area due to microsplashes from your ultrasonic.

All the guys who I have seen have their ultrasonic cleaner next to the power supply right in the area they are working.

No, all I use is distilled water in the cup, and also in the ultrasonic, I stick the tube in, turn on the ultrasonic and watch the ink swirl out from within,I than dump it, and do it again to make sure its all gone...Im paranoid..., Also like u were saying, everyone you know keeps it by their power supply, I do not, again I have my ultrasonic isolated from all of my equipment, and again.....Im paranoid......, afraid that the microsplashes might get all over my equipment, Just trying to play it safe.
