I've had 2 machines (a liner and a shader) for about 3 months now, and about a month ago they both just stopped working. I checked them with my meter and they're both getting power, and I replaced everything but the frame but they still won't work. They make noises like they want to go, but there's no motion. Any suggestions? I purchased them from a reputable catalog, so I don't think I got bad machines, but maybe I did.
Thanks!

Check for shorts. Could be the clip cord and/or power supply. Test the clip cord and power supply with other machines. Prior to them not working did you swap any parts or make any adjustments?

clip cord is a good start,i ran into the same thing two years back and thats what it came down to.If a cord gets pinched or anything of that nature it wont stop working right away.Inside it does its thing little by little due to some damage or misshandleing.Your machine will start running a little foul and you will find yourself pulling your hair out tuning and cleaning and not being able to achieve a fine running machine.Just a little slight problem i went through and wanted to share.Snapped on a new cord and machines ran nice.I have two machines so it didnt take me long to narrow it down.Anyway, take your time and handle machine with care, there is a little more to tuning a machine than people think. The info is here ,just take time and learn.

I too had a faulty cord last week, I managed to resolder the ends but I have ordered a new one anyway so my old one will be used as an emergency stand by only.

also check to make sure your coil connections aren't grounding out, check a bar alignment. make sure the tops of the coils, binding posts are all good and clean.

On the power side of the connections there should be a plastic washer between the frame and the wire so the machine doesnt short, make sure they are there. when you took it apart you may have put one back in the wrong place. If you said you replaces everything on the machine. Check the obvious ; clip cord, power supply, make sure you gap isnt too large between the contact screw and spring. hope it helps.

One thing if I may add check your contact screws & springs they just might need to be cleaned up with a file.

Double check that your are getting a voltage reading at the end of the clipcord while it not connected to your machine.

I would say contact screw and check exactly where your clipcord connects to the machine, debris could be causing a bad connection.

Thanks everyone who replied. I will try checking the clip cord again...the washer is in the right place, and the points have been filed. I didn't replace anything until after the machines stopped working...

DanTheMan: I bought them from Kingpin Tattoo. :?

Thanks again and I will post again after I've checked the cords.

contact screw... check voltage...go from the post to the other following the flow that the electricity would go....
