After reading some parts of the forum i decided to move my armature bar up a little due to the fact it was taking a little to much bending in the needle bar.I can understand a little bow.Anyway to compensate for that i had to angle my contact screw[front binding post]out just a little also.I fired up my shader and she was rolling,so im looking to slow it down and strike a little softer.Well i ended up to having my power supply down to about 3 and a half to 4.,still packed the ink in and was very comfortable. Also when i removed contact screw to clean up machine and all i noticed less black burning on the contact screw and spring.,sometimes it can be pretty dirty.Anyhow shading on this low of a setting is pretty normal?Im just curious,i never had decent results on that low of a setting until i made those adjustments.Hopefully it was for the better.Im always learning, sorry so long.

its an east -coast style shader and fairly new even though i believe it was sent to me just thrown together .Neede new springs ,the others looked like a three year old cut them.I have also read other not so nice things about this supplier on the forum. Thanks for any info,I really enjoy this forum.I am going to buy a couple more machines by summer and think i might try one of NeedleJacks, that way i can have two liners set up with different needle groupings and all.,but for now im going to take my time and concentrate on tuning these machines.I think i will go with less wraps on my next machine also,im not going any higher on a needle grouping while shading other than a five mag or maybe a nine, once i get comfortable with them.Thank you for all your replys...twelve wrap shader

hey all, just got done doing a small tattoo on this big bone girl, anyway machines put in the ink just lovely.I was a little worried about being able to run them on so low of power but it went great.Picked up most of my tuning knowledge right here on this forum.Thank you everyone for sharing.Hey the pics in the gallery are looking great, all of them.Keep up the good work.

My East Coast shader runs great at around 4 volts. Really packs it in too. A lot of people say that Kaplans machines are crap but I think they have really good coils.

Thanks,Im going to try and see if a different size capacitor will make a difference.Im pretty sure it wii,but beings you have the same type of machine Papa Gee can you tell me what size cap you have on your shader and liner?I need to call before they send my order out.Anyway its a twelve wrap shader and my liner is a ten ,anyone please feel free to help a brother decide on a cap size...I cant really read the size thats on them now, just want to slow them up a little bit...thank-you...Slow=nice solid shading for me...

you can get capacitors from Radio Shack. No need to order them from a tattoo supplier. I belive that all the Kaplan machines come standard with a 47 cap.
