Hey guys, Just wondering what yall do , I was tought to put a small thin layer of vaseline over the whole tatt after the stencil dries and then outline. But today watching Inked, I noticed one of the artists only put vaseline or A&D cream on his little finger and covered the line he was tattooing next...this im guessing helped to not obliterate the stencil, what do you guys do?

It's different strokes for different folks. some people put vasaline only on the area they are working on at the moment, others cover the whole stencil. I do both depending on the size of the work.

i use this application spray i got on EGay, it smells like pine oil, i spray it on the skin and then put on my stencil, let it sit for 5 minutes and then my stencils never smear. Not sure exactly what it is but it works great.

When you coat the entire stencil with vaseline/A&D/bacitracin, whatever you use, you create a difficulty for stretching the skin. You lose traction on your stretching hand. I found this out early on when I had the butt my machine hand anchored on the arm and was pulling to get a stratch and my hand slipped. Since then I've only used jelly at the point I'm working on at the time.
rite on papa,
i couldnt of worded it better my self,i too keep a small amount of vasaline on my pinky then use it as i line, that way as papa says you dont slip and you get a good stretch.

Got to put my 2 cents worth in, I to apply the vasaline with my pinky finger on just the area I'm working, Like Papa Gee said you'll play hell trying to get a good stretch.

I agree and do the same,Put it on area of tattoo you are working on,apply as you go.Keeps ink where you need it,smoother outlining and alot easier clean-up.Gotta love it...
