Does anyone recomend this, or have any advise? One of my buddies, who is a phenominal badass tat artist, told me to look into lining with flats because you can get perfectly straight lines more easily, and you could do a kind of caligraphy like effect with the needle for lettering. His work is insanly good so I trust him, does anyone here have any helpfull feedback?

I've tried it once... made a clean slice through the skin. fortunately, it was a really really small slice.

I use a mag to make small lines while filling in a piece but I turn it so just the corner of the mag hits the skin but using a mag in a side to side motion it will cut or over the work skin in that place leaving a empty look in your color even your black will do the same,I would try to use as a liner in small corners and small lines at first lines til you can see the mags action and how its the works the skin. :D

just my thoughts bro but take it from one that learned the hard way .

I do some linework with the mags already. I usually keep my power at 6v when doing so. I would only imagine that lining with flats would be the exact same. I was just wondering if anyone here does this regularly, and if anyone has any technique recomendations. I know the risks, thanks.

I use a 5 mag for building up lines after I've done the basic outline with a 5 round liner. The caligraphic effect is really cool too on letters. Especially script or swirly cursive.
