I was looking at this machine I know just looking (don't worry Chris I'll buy from here!!!!!!) but my question is why is the contact screw on this machine so far from the tip? I have a strong man and its more towards the front?.

the angle of the contact screw will determine where it will hit on the spring, giving you another adjustment for tune. There are a lot of things you can do to a machine to change how it runs just by the thickness of springs, and the points where they bend and make contact. Think of it this way. The armature will have more "bounce" the father up the contact screw is as there is more distance from anchor screw to contact point allowing the spring to flex more.... the top springs can be tweaked too, changing the dynamic of the flex. Though at different settings you may need to adjust your voltage too. Beautiful thing about tattoo machines, is they are simple in function but complicated in adjustment..... tear your machines down and try different spring combinations, and contact position etc, you may learn that you like the way the machine runs, and you will certainly learn something about your machine.

Like Montana said, strip your machine and reassemble it, try different springs etc, bend the rear spring up a little, play with the angle of the front spring and you will be amazed at how much difference a little tweak will make the machine run, I did all of what I said just to satisfy my own curiosity. If you angle the contact screw to the front of the spring it becomes more softer hitting because of the flex of the spring, further back on the stiffer part of the spring will make it hit a bit harder hitting, play about with your machine, get to know it but don't become obsessed with it like I did. What I said above is what I have worked out for myself, what I have found from different forums about springs is ask 10 different people the same question and you will get 10 different answers or opinions.
Oh nearly forgot, while bending and tweaking expect your machine to run really badly and sound either weak or like a bag of nails, all part of learning.
