I read somewhere that by double lining and then filling in with black to make very bold lines, that it will look blown out over time. Is there truth to this? I don't see why this would be. I have used this method before (a great artist actually shared this tip) and I really like it. It just seems to go smoother for me than running 3-4 lines side by side. But I want to do whats right too, so please, anyone able to give me some advice, thanks a million :o)

no. blow outs as you probably already know are caused by going in too deep with the needle. most artists i know double almost all their outlines as opposed to using a thicker needle grouping unless of course its like a big back piece and even then with the bigger needles they might still double up .

You can also get a bow out if your angle is wrong for example tattooing a circle and tilting your hand instead of moving your hand. Can you understand what I am saying?

Sup lady?
Best way to make a nice bold line other than using a single large grouping would be to make the line with lets just say for example only, a 5 super tight round then build it up by stacking another line right next to it using lets say a 9 and it will look absolutely great!
The problem with dual lines and fill is that there is more trauma to the area. and also the color in the center is more prone to drop out or fade as opposed to the solid stacked lines that can be made in one pass. quicker, more consistant. and definately a smoother line weight.
Hope that helps.
