yesterday i went with a few friends to get some piercings done.
i decided i wanted to get my lip pierced twice. i had heard what i wanted being called "snakebites" on bmezine.com
anyway everyone went before me. i was the last up to bat. i had told the girl what i wanted and she didnt really ask to many questions. she marked out the spots where they would go and it looked good.
but after it was all said and done i realized that the piercing went in thru the bottom of my lip and came out on top of it. it wasnt what i wanted at all.
i took them out the next day after the swelling went down a little bit.
anyway is there anything i can do as far as getting a refund or anything?
i dont think i could have gone thru another 2 piercings in the same day.
i guess i should have said something while i was there.
anyway what should i do? besides next time bring a picture or be more specific.
i dont know if it was her fault or mine. i guess it was just a communication problem.
atleast now i know better.

You probably can't get a refund. Next time explain thoroughly the piercing you want, instead of using the terms. If you say the term, the piercer will assume you KNOW and not ask questions. If you aren't 100% just ask. Most piercers don't expect everyone to know the piercing terms. I'm assuming you wanted, the standard lip piercing. (usually the captive that goes in through the bottom lip up and around)
Good luck with your next piercing

The term 'snake bite' is used to describe any matching pair of piercings, even on the tongue, where the term 'viper' is also used interchangably. What you got was a pair of vertical labrets. Did the piercer show you placement before you got pierced? If they did, and you agreed, there will probably be no refund. If they didn't, and just pierced you, you could explain that the placement wasnt' where you wanted it and see what they say. I personally would change it for free, but I can't speak for other shop's policy.

yea, she showed me where the holes would be in the front, and i just assumed it would go thru the back of my lip and not out of the top of it.
it was a good and well done piercing. just not what i expected.
just one more thing charged to the game lol.

Wow that sux that you didnt get what you wanted i have a labret and several months ago i went in and got what you wanted 1 more on each side, i didnt know exactley what it was called, but a couple of the people working there had the same piercings so all i had to do was say "I want my lip to look like that" i would try to see about a refund or getting your next piercing at a discount, if you explian it to them and there a reputable shop they should do something about it, just next time you go in make sure you know exactly what you want and that they know.

well, truth be told, it is rumored, and generally accepted that the vertical labret piercing was started as a very poorly done standard lip piercing. This may not be the truth at all, but it makes sense, though in this case, I couldn't see them screwing up twice, unless they had no idea how to do them to start with...
