attitude is the one thing i hate the most about going into a tattoo shop for the first time. i love tattoos and have spent a lot of money on them and i hate going into a shop and getting attitude from some guy trying to make money off me. i would just say be very openminded and polite and then always try to make the customer feel comfortable. even a tiny lame designed tattoo can mean a lot to someone. also try to just look very clean and organized. clutter and bad hygene is an instant out for me... good luck bud

Is it to start a tattooing business. I see you are in the UK, go to Barclays bank, see the business adviser and they will help you with a business information pack which details how to put together a business plan, Barclays also have a leaflet relevant to the tattooing business, I saw it in a previous listing.

I like it to look friendly but MEDICAL. Almost like a happy dentist. I like furniture that can be wiped clean, (in the waiting room too!) non carpeted floors (for those vomiters) I personally like flash on the walls, since there are ALOT of people that can't visualize.

put some thought into the decore. don't just pop down a couple counters and call it good. Remember the image is the first thing people judge upon.

Second make sure that every person is delt with the upmost curtisy. Even if there just to look, have someone talk to them. ( example : my ex went into two different shops, for piercing items. she said that see would like to talk to the piercer. The piercer was buisy for quiet a bit. both shops had multiple employees just flapin there jaw. She is very much into the tattoo and the piercing seen and probley would have gotten one from them if they had talked to her.)(She was looking for something out of my legue at the time) many people jugde the shop just by how comfortable they feel aroud the shop. Every person walking buy or lookin in the window is a posible client.

This based on my oppinion and alot of people would probly agree, If you smoke keep it out of and away from the door. These days there are less smoking people than smokers even the younger generation. Frankly I think that we need to take a step and try to put up a cleaner immage and more of a possative look to the tattoo family.

finaly I would have to say going on apperances. A f in dress code. Don't let your employee's come in clothes that look like they sleeped in them. Cleanlieness comes from the entire out look, from furnitur to paint to lay out ,apperances to the smells and attitudes. Tattooing is not just for the rough and tough bikers, any more we are also trying to make more of a possative seen.

Just my two cents on the matter.

Nice and friendly attitude ,dont make your customers be intimidated, you might be a nice guy but make sure your staff don't have a rock star attitude as often these are the first people your customers will meet while your'e out back tattooing.

Clinical cleanliness in the tattoo area.

The best bit of advice I ever got from a tattooist was chew gum, no one likes bad breath!
