I will be recieving an IronStrongman tommorow that I will use for a shader. I'm really having a problem laying solid color without causing scabbing. Any suggestions on how a IStrong runs?

Doesn't matter on the machine used provided standard data 10wrap Coils and 47 Caps are what you are using. This you will be on an Strong Man. Regarding laying color. Do as everyone else does and tune the machine for a longer stroke and not too much power. You want soft spring tension as to not overwork the skin with more than one pass over the same area.

Also, make sure you are keeping the skin tight as you tattoo. Very common mistake when first starting out. If you are using flats - good time to switch to mags. A lot of old school fellows have not yet broken the habbit. More common in the West down south. Preference for some. Also, rounds limit your ability to line on a dime in a pinch if you notice you forgot to line something. Too easy to clean up and redip without changing needles if you only have one machine. This gets a thread started. However, I'm sure if you read through the forum you will find quite a few tips especially in the "Color Thoughts" (http://www.supplytattoo.com/board/viewforum.php?f=3) Section

give your rear spring a light bend , the stock springs are a little tight .
