I find that when I am straight on, my lines are weak, but if I am at a bit of an angle, they come out bold and strong. Is this okay, or should 90 degree angle be the only way I should be lining? thanks

I always use an angle when lining and you just dont want to have to much of one, anywhere from a 45 to 90 is fine, whats most comfortable and creates a well done tattoo.Different strokes for different folks.

you want the machine angled, not at a 90, less trauma to the skin and it does give you better results like youve found out.

Thats a fact. I usually angle the machine just a tad about 75 degrees so I can see the needle entering the skin. If you are pulling the line , then angle it upwards so the tip is guiding you, it kind of gives you a better angle of attack.

Watch the angle while doing outside corners though as it will want to blow out to the "Outside of the arc" Now if you already have a line there and you are stacking the line weight then you will have ink already there for your second pass for the new line to fill into. "Capese?"
