Alright, on a few tattoos I have had problems with blow outs. I am not too sure what I am doing wrong. I don't believe I am riding the needle to far into the skin. Any insite into this problem would be greatly appreciated thanx.

blow outs r caused by going too deep, depth control is a must.and make sure to fallow the contour of the skin your tattoing.

not necessarily too deep but the angle of your needle , you probably were going sideways ...carefull of your angles !!!!

They're right. A combination of incorrect needle depth and angle can cause blowouts. You have to master the technique of maintaining the correct needle depth and angle of attack throughout the entire line.

in my very brief experience with tattooing it make me glad i was a graffiti and airbrush artist first. its all about the angles and distance (depth in tattooing) foir those clean lines. i use spraycans for helping my friend a lot. i always remind him witch way the lines are going in. the only thing is is that with tattooing you cant go back and cut the lines or clean up by going over it again. i just breathe slow and try to always think about the angle of insertion and then again id rather touch it up in a few weeks than f it up for life.

I had problem with blowouts before, was going to deep and hard, but does blowouts really mather, all my tattoos with that come out great anyway........

Isnt better to go a bit to deep instead of going to shallow and get weak outlines?

With a weaker outline you can always go back and make it look better. It's a little harder to fix a blow out

Thats funny, looking at the tat on that girls back it's the same one my wife has on her back. The guy (Pro) who did it really didn't do that great of a job.The fill came out weak and I can see spots on the line where he started and stopped. It's like a little ball in the line.I wanted to redo it for her but she complains about the pain, lol

your the one that said blowouts dont matter do they? and you get them
all the time ?

listen guys seriously if you are getting blowouts its not a good thing.
think, think, think, when you notice a blowout STOP look at what your doing!
are you holding the machine at an angle? or are you going to deep?
if your holding the machine at the correct angle its got to be that you went in to deep with the needle. its a thousand times more likely you are getting blowouts from riding the needle, then from riding the tube..
go back to riding the tube for a couple tats to see if its from your angle
or going to deep..

RESURRECTED:

you mean as your putting in the line, the ink kinda "veins" off alittle? hhhmmm IMO i believe your going too deep.Way too deep. you say you dont THINK you are, but how deep are you actually going? sometimes its hard to tell how deep your actually going if your new to riding the needle.

If in doubt ride the tube for awhile. Set it up exactly how deep it should be, with the machine not running and pulling down on the a bar. When lining dont push into the skin. The weight of the machine should be all you need.

Yep, remember Lining is virtually (if not altogether) 90 degrees to the skin !

Hard to blow out if the depth is right and the angle is right, tis like sex !

If your getting blow-outs stop working on real people!!! Especially if it continues, with an out line you have to be smooth in how you do it, and think out the lines. When you start a line, plan on finishing in the same stroke unless you know how to blend that line to the rest. If you can’t do this, it’s time to stop and practice, or learn how to cover a lining mistake with shading, or rebuilding the line itself in the piece. Which takes work that if, your getting the blowouts your not ready to work on skin.

Imagine this..... A cheap paper plate if you were to tattoo it the needle would not go through the other side just dent it a bit. That should give you somewhat of an idea. Its not deep epidermis is almost paper thin

i usually see a lot of blow outs on lines that intersect or are tight to others. this is because some artist start very slow to find where there going and also too deep because of this. my advice is to see and know the line first, start as quick as the rest of the line will be done and quickly lift your needle at the end of the line. it is easier to control depth if speed is a little quick. everyones right, it's easier to fix thin shallow lines than big nasty deep blowouts.
