Where's that from Montana? I use kuro-sumi. I heard "The One" from kingpin is the sh&t. Guess you can use it for everthing. Think I'll try it soon. Just got some from a friend who works at the shop down the street. Probably try it out this week.

I either use kuro or intenze true black or a combination of the two....
I dont wanna seem like I mean this in a negative way at all but if the machine is tuned properly then you can use just about any brand of ink and it will go in solid..just make sure your setup is set for the job and run the machine slow...this way you can go over a spot more than once without chewing up the skin....

Hi,
Try National's "Triple Black" Great fro tribal fill. Not for lining. 8)
Time Machines Tribal black is solid and goes in guick, true black from Intenze is good too.
When I am out of the other 2 I use Talens with Turbo black mix 50/50
Nice too.

I tried The One. Very dark, Very smooth. My opinion A+. I tried it for Outlining and I didn't like it. My coworker at the shop swears by it for everything.

I currently use 'Eternal - triple tribal black' from DTS (uk) which is nice and thick so it doesn't run but keeps a a nice pool going which tbh goes further and creates less waste....
So using everyone elses recommendations i'll be trying kumo suri when my supply runs out.....
Is Kuri of a thick consitency???

Kuro-sumi isnt thick at all, every since i ordered some i use it alot, goes in great and stays good and black. Also instead of using water to mix for washes,i have heard that whitch hazel works better.I will be doing a black and grey piece soon to see how it goes for myself.

I used kuro sumi for the first time last night on a nice big tribal upper back piece and i'm pleased with how it went in, it lays really smooth.
It is on a friend of mine so will be able to monitor it's heal closely.
Happy so far :)
Currently using Dynamic but thinking about trying sumi heard alot about it and it sounds like it's worth a try.

i was told that kuro sumi doesnt break down well with water.that witch hazel as the diluting agent works better for making graywash.and forgiven, where can you by unique ink? how does eternal inks stake up to intenze ink for brightness?

'Allo to ye all, me fellow primitives...
Many a year ago, back when the Devil kept me brain in a vat on his nightstand, I can distinctly remember hearing of a fabled Black Ink that actually became darker with age.
Might any of ye have any insight into this magical ink? Is this purely Myth or am I just injecting my deepest hopes into the convolutions of memory? Google has been less than helpful...

The Kuro-Sumi works great for outlines and filling, but by all means, do not use Kuro's Black ink for shading unless you dilute it.
Besides all that, remember that some peoples skin will take some inks better than others. But so far Kuro-Sumi's been my favorite. And Needle Jack has it at the best price!!!

"but by all means, do not use Kuro's Black ink for shading"
And why, pray tell, do you recommend such precaution; friend Martin?

Fair enough, I will elaborate.
From experience, Kuro-Sumi is a great ink, but it is a very strong ink also. Which is why they also make a grey wash.
I was just giving people a heads up if they wanted to try shading with the black ink.
Maybe others have had a different experience. This is just my opinion.

Being relatively new to the art, I have been using Kuro-sumi to line with as well as to shade in large areas of black tribal. Please inform me if this is something that I, or my clients, may regret, and why... I thank you kindly for any advice you may supply...

Hey, I use different kinds of black pigments, depends on what I'm working on. For PURE black tribal work, I only use skin candy. If I'm making a greywash I use Kuro Sumi because it mixes well without losing much thickness. Other than that, shop around, buy all kinds, see what works for you.

I've tried others ,Talens, New Image tribal black, Eds Head Tribal black but they tend to heal a sort of blue/black.
Now its only Kuro Sumi , heard good things and wasn't dissapointed

Kuro Sumi for me too... I use their liner ink for lining, and black pieces as well... Very good stuff... I also have their greywash (9 parts wash 1 part pigment) I love it... For black, it can't be beat...
Any one ever heard of "Kokkai Sumi"?

^^^^^I totally agree. This ink is great! But man you can put a drop in a 3 oz cup of water and to me you still have 100% BLACK!! LOL of course I am exaggerating. I usually dilute it in a bottle %50 black and %50 water then from there I start making my grays. Take a look at the post I made "What is this tattoo sunday?" the kanji symbol was both lined and filled with Kuro-Sumi
I give 2 thumbs up for Kuro-Sumi and Moms
