Hi!
Had a big problem with skindamage before when doing solid black..
Have solved the problem by run the machine a lot slower and lower the volts,
but when doing shading, the needles sometimes, specially on places with thin skin, "scratch" the skin in to "hamburger"..

Can u go to slow, so the needles get caught into the skin and rip it into hamburger??

Because that it exactly what seems to happen, but im not sure.....

well if the machine is to slow the needles will just bounce off the skin and tear it instead of piercing the skin which is what has happened to me before and skin doesnt like that. Make sure the skin is pulled tight and try different rubber band combos and voltages, and remember only 2 passes if the ink wont go in dont go for a 3rd pass let it heal and then go over it again, thats what i do anyway.

But if a run the machine faster, then maybe the skin isnt being riped, but then the colours will go in to fast and uneven shading occur....

I have the machine really slow when doing solid black and then the skin holds perfect, but with exact same settings when doing shading the skin is being ripped, but only sometimes, depends on the persons skin type...

Do u guys run your shadingmachine faster then when doing solid black??

And dont understand when some use machine both for lining and shading, seems to me that the skin would be really overworked when u have such a fast machine??

All says to me that i must stretch the skin rell tight and i agree with that, but sometimes when i do, the skin takes more damage....

Well i look at a fast machine this way if the needles are going in and out of the skin real fast not much ink will get in since the needle and ink are not in very long, if you go slow this is not much of a problem but you run a better chance of over working the skin, thats why liners are generally faster cause its only a few needles and you only outline with one pass so thats why your outlines look good but shading and filling look blothcy. i still have problems when filling and shading from time to time but everyones skin is different, next time you fill in try to use a few more rubbers bands and listen to the machine when its working if im having a rough time with getting color in ill turn the voltage down and let the machine kinda boog down like a car sounds when its about to stall out, that means the needles are in the skin longer allowing to let more ink in, but only 2 passes is the max. try something on yourself with different settings thats the only way ive found to test or a good friend that will let you experiment on, as you get better you can always go back and fix something if you didnt mess it up to bad.
