Hope I dont repeat anything within the forum with this request but here goes.............

................I have looked on the forum for info on Machine Racks but cant really find what im looking for. I was thinking of purchasing one, but what happens as far as cleaning the test tubes go. I dont have anything that sterilises as yet and I use all disposable supplies, but what happens with the test tubes being contaminated after each tattoo. The solution in the tubes whether it be distilled water, alcohol, green soap or whatever would be emptied but its still going to contaminate the test tubes after they have been used. Would scrubbing with green soap or alcohol be sufficient or is there a better way to do this to avoid cross contamination.

Also I have wondered about distilled water. I have understood that its not really acceptable to use boiled, then cooled tap water, so would it be okay to use distilled water from automobile accessory shops. Im not really sure where to purchase distilled water but I know they use it for car radiators.

All the pro shops that I go in use tap water, either with a shot of anti bacterial washing up liquid or dettol.

Thanks Inkster, but what do they do when they have finished a client, regarding the next client. Would they just empty and then refill with clean solution or would they sterilise the test tubes in some way.

you can find distlled water at any place that sells grocerys, just go were the beverages are and look for bottled water there will be distilled water in gallon jugs, parents need it for baby formula since you shouldnt mix tap water baby formula. I havent had any problems finding it.

All the ones that I have seen do not use test tube racks anymore, as they are using the machines, usually 3 set up at any one time and laid out on a clean surface, after the work session is complete, they are ultrasonically cleaned in the solutions that you already have been using during the tattoo process, dismantled and then placed in a large Bocide jar (as used by hairdressers for disinfecting scissors, combs and brushes) filled with water and a sanitiser, at the end of the working day they are taken to the cleaning area, they are taken apart, brush cleaned, cleaned in an ultrasonic cleaner with say a Rapidex solution, autoclaved and once steralised and dried placed in an airtight container ready for the next day. In the UK you could use Helizyme (enzymatic cleaner) in your Biocide jar and for your pre cleaning ultrasonic. Hope it helps.

Hi all,

Never to late to admit to a big daaaaaaaaa.. I have been lugging jugs of distilled water up the stairs ( pick up at market or Walgreens) to my shop for over a decade. The other day I was chatting with my sparkletts delivery man. Daaaaaaaaa they carry cases on their truck. Yippee no more stairs for me and a case at time. It is the small thing in that life that make it a good day.
