trouble with healing

this has probably been answered somewhere in the archives, but I have noticed on myself primarily, after the tattoo is gone through the first 4 days of healing it starts to develop a shiny film on it. I understand that this is the new skin layer, however it seems to take weeks to heal. I have never had this problem with getting tattooed before, and I was wondering ....could this be because I'm using red. Where I filled in the rose with red, this is where I am getting the most problems.

I have been using a seven woven mag, and am running my machine real soft but at 7 volts with two rubber bands. Should I add another band? Any advice is helpful! Thanks in advance!:)

Yes,could have alot to do with the red,and i can only speak for myself on running my shader,i always use at least three bands.

thanks for the reply.....I think I am running it a bit hard, might have to add another band and see if that works, if not I'm going to adjust the needle depth on my shader. I usually ride the tube with a 16th hanging out with the armature bar down, I am going to have double check and make sure there is no more than a 16th hangin. Any suggestions on reds to use? brand I mean
