Greetings all,

I have been tattooing for awhile and thank god what I am about to show you has not happened to any of my clients but....
Here is the 3rd time I tried tattooing myself on the top of my hand right about where my thumb is. I had a heart with wings that came out terrible about 8 years ago and finally I wanted to cover it up with the superman "S" I always liked it and now my son is hooked sooooo. to make a long story short I had my wife stretch my skin and pretty much took my time considering that burning feeling (I cannot tattoo myself worth shit! I have 3 tattoos and they were done by other artists and I was a good boy)

Anyways here is the link of how it looks its not been a week but it looked awesome when I finished but now......

Thanks for you alls input.

looks like a red reaction or being on your hand, something got in it, had a few clients go for a swim in a chlorinated pool once, looked just like that.

I get ya. Because this is the 3rd time I have tattooed that same area. As I mentioned first was a heart with wings and it was just as blurry. I was starting to think I went too deep, (when in actuallity while I was doing it I thought I was probably not deep enough)

I have a question about the going to deep part....if someone has a tat thats tooo deep, is it usualy harder to cover up? or is it just because it's on a weird spot that yours is friggin up?

It looks like you went to deep in some places and to light in others. Also there are parts of the skin that look over worked. Power supply could have been up to high when coloring. You also may have been moving to fast.

Where on the hand is this tattoo located?
Have you kept the thing clean? It looks like you slaped a band-aid on it for over a week. Looks wet and juicy. It should be drying. I suspect that the tattoo is not under the proper healing conditions.

The Tat is located on the top of my hand behind the thumb right before the wrist joint or ball of the palm. Now I think the part of it being slapped with a band aid, well I will tell you this I did the tattoo one night and had one days rest then I had a tattoo on the second day (wore the gloves right over it and of course we sweat I use black dragon by the way) and then the day after that I had another tattoo session so there we go with the gloves again. For those of you who know black dragons the is no powder. MDK I feel that you are hitting it right. I admit this spot stung like hell to do and I know there was spots that I wanted to get over with fast and others didnt bother that much. But for the pic I had just put a & d on it and I left a piece of flaking skin so that you all here could get a good look. Now like I said none of my clients have had this happen but I wanted a nice cover up and bam! looks horrible. Should I wait 2 more weeks and redo?
Thanx you guys are awesome!!!

hey tony
i hate to tell you this but it looks like you really over worked the skin
if you notice, the part of the superman tat that looks hazy looks like you've
past once to many times because it appears a layer of skin has already been removed.
the other part of the tat, with the meaty looking strips piled or string around the bottom portion could be a reation but really looks liked you gouged that area.
i have never really condoned tattooing oneself since it is really difficult
to have a great perspective on the work you are doing but its your skin.
most will probably dissagree with me but sometimes when your tattooing yourself, you don't know when to quit, mainly because you want to finish the tattoo or your endorphines dosen't let the pain tell you when to quit.
from the looks of it you might end up with scarring, i would let it heal at least three to six months before you even think about touching it.
now keep in mind that the photo your displaying is at 72 dpi and not the greatest quality to really examine your wound, so it maybe just a reaction
but to me, you over worked your skin way too much.
let it heal.

You know ladies and gentlemen, I totally agree. Its definately overworked and yes also I was hyped to finish it, and I really thought it was coming out awesome. To tell you the truth I can still feel it itching and I know thats not supposed to be. I guess I am going to take it to somebody else to do it for me when it heals completely. I thank all of you for your input. I feel better now knowing that tattooing oneself is a gamble better off letting a good buddy (who knows what they're doing) do it for you.
As for the image if you download to your pc and resize it smaller you will notice that those meaty looking parts are actually that skin that falls off after a few days I just wanted you all to see how "pretty" the colors looked then poof all gone. Thanks again guys and gals.
