Yup.. its simple.

Autoclaves Sterilize to medical regulations.

Dry heat sterilizers do not meet most health dept. standards for Tattooing/piercing

Aside from that.. Dry heat sterilizers take twice as long.. and get way hotter.. Dry heat is generally not used for surgical equipment these days, because it tends to dull blades.. etc..

Autoclaves are completely different than ultrasonic cleansers.. ultrasonics consist of a basket that holds liquid, which vibrates very quickly (hence "ultrasonic"), they are used to soak/clean the dry debris from tubes, etc, and in no way do they sterilize anything.. they are just part of the cleaning process, which must be followed up with an autoclave cycle to sterilize.

here is a picture of an ultrasonic:

It helps to loose'n up the ink and blood on your tubes and such(places your tube brush cant reach)...much more than scrubbing alone

that was a good insight why , now i don't want to sound stupid but.... when you autoclave something..... i know you do the tubes , needles , but what about your gun itself do you tear it down each time or what.... i don't know but i want to be safe as possible... please just bear with me on this...... also would like to know about i m probablly going to get a prestige clave .... but i hear alot of people here talking about these stove tops and electric claves that look like a pressuer cooker, can a pressure cooker be used as a autoclave does it do the same as these stove tops and elec. or what exactly are these two types and how do they work ,,, i'm just curious..... like i said i'mm getting a prestge clave but would like to know thanks a million guys ans gals... there is no need to break it down everytime-- JUST BAG IT!!:D --
and i bag the clip cord as well!

Im a little diffrent than most, here is how i keep my machines as clean as possible. Yes I bag my machines and cord, afterward i wipe down with madricide, but here is where i differ. Once a week I strip the machines i use down to bare frame and ultrasonic all the parts that can go into the tank and then run it through an autoclave cycle and re assemble the machine. I wipe down the coils with a clorox antibacterial wipe followed by madricide making sure i get between the coils. I store my machines in a barbers ultraviolent cabniet (what the barber uses to store his clippers looks like a toaster oven with a blue light) Im working under the theory that bacteria doesnt grow well under UV light. Overkill? maye a little but It gives me a little piece of mind.

overkill isnt a bad thing when it comes to keeping things clean.. Its not a bad idea to do everything you listed..

Here is a link to a study on pressure cookers as sterilizers;

It's short and well worth the read, even if only for information on the subject.
