A book and a kit huh.... same could be said for any career right....
but you wouldn't want your doctor trained that way, and most people don't want their piercer trained that way.....

Just like tattooing, self taught piercing is the long hard road.... nothing beats an apprenticeship
Anybody can be a piercer, even a monkey, all it takes is shoving a needle through someone.... that alone will not make you any good at it or give you the right to call yourself a pro....

I agree, Self taught is the long hard road....It does take alot of common sence and knowing also how to deal with the risks, shoving a needle for someone isnt as easy as it sounds with alot of complications.

Ive even seen 'pros' do what id call stupid things like piecing veins in the lip, not even just thread veins, im talking fat juicy ones, using the wrong length bars that are either too long or too short - all sorts.

ive found its mostly experiance, now im self taught but I check all avenues before doing A piercing with professionals. now ive done hundreds and never had any problems, except one when they re-pierced the area themselves after removing the jewellery.

I always make sure I know all the risks before doing so, and now im quite respected in the small town I live, People often visit myself instead of the local stores ( when I have the equipment ) for my services.
