When i was about 16, i used to draw flash for Sinbad's tattoo studio in NY. Well, they never payed me shit for it, so one day I went in and confronted them (nicely). And i ended up getting a free piercing to keep me happy i suppose. I got my upper cartilidge pierced on my left ear. Well, turns out that even after keeping it as clean as possible, it swelled really badly after about 2 days. So bad that I had to get it removed back at the studio. They said that if i had come in any later i would have had to get my ear cut off at the hospital.
I figured that there was no way that I would have let it get infected, so thinking back to when I actually got the piecing i remember the guy putting his gloves on and then he started scratching his upper back below his neck (under his shirt), and he never changed gloves. I was young and stupid so i didnt think anything of it until i almost lost my ear.

Key point: Go to trusted studios, and pay attention to details!

Needless to say, this shop is closed. Not sure why, but since my incident i have heard of many others.

just because someone works in a shop, and fronts as a professional... this is absolutely NO indication of their skill

look for portfolios, talk to the artist, get your gut feeling.....many 'pros' just outright suck.....

I had my left ear pierced when I was 18 then about three years later I decided to get my right ear pierced to match. the front was perfectly centered but on the back they pierced it almost out the bottom. I was so upset. Since he used a guaged needle to pierce it, I had to wait a long time before he could re-pierce it. man I wish I would of done a little research on this guy first.
He did do it again for me the seecond time, but I can't believe he let me walk out of his shop like that.

i started stretching my ears years ago and never had a problem until i got into a fight and got hit in the ear. after that a cist formed and swelled my ear to the size of a ping pong ball, then it popped. it was the nastiest, smelliest puss ever. so i never put my earings back in and never had a probem again
