Here are my 2nd and 3rd Tattoos. Used a 5 shader on the whole thing. My other needles did not arrive in time :( and I felt comfortable useing the 5. The Justice took 1 and 1/2 hours and the other 2 1/2 hours. Went real well. I see the dash I missed on the one date :(

I'm impressed you did that just using a 5 shader (mag or flat?). I agree with Dank, some layout issues. I think it looks clean overall. Definetly could of used a liner on the scroll work.

It says 5RS-5 Round Shader -Right? I was not happy with the scroll either. I road the needle for the first time on skin. Getting the hang of it!

i think it is pretty good for 2nd and 3rd actually very good. but it does look over worked. especially the last photo. the skin looks really inflamed and sore. id be very carefull tattooing someone with that many freckles etc it tends to be a sign they have really sensative skin. if it all healed it up ok and no ecess scabbing etc then its all good. maybe it just looks over worked cus his skin type. deffinatly good for 2nd and 3rd time though

i agree if you had used a liner it would have had sharper detail in the points and tips but over all looks good for your first few.
i am sort of discouraged that you chose to use a shader instead of a liner just because they didnt show up at your door yet..
thats a bad habit to have in the tat business.
you should have a wide variety of needle configurations before you even start tatting. i just hope you didnt say the same thing about your cleaning
supplys.
please be safe

Thanks Krazy for the freckled skin tip. Their skin types were very different to work on. Talked to them last night and said His was not inflamed or red at all. So thats good, Hers was still a little red but it had been less than 24 hours. I did tell them my needle delema, I had been practicing on an orange with a 5 shader so I felt comfortable doing it. Of course I got the needles the next day, got 50, need another 50 more. I did take a Safety Course with the Red Cross for Tattooists and have a Certficate of Achievement. I am very careful not to cross contaminate, going through quite a few gloves!! I'm going to make a checklist to follow so not to forget anything. I definatly realize the importance of safety, for everyones sake. Thanks so much for everyones input! Great Forum! ;-)

before doing anything else, read, reread, print it all out if it helps, but do it to do everyone you know including yourself a huge favor.
thanks,

I have been there and read all the threads, great information! I copied and pasted alot of it to Word. I have been to Bodyart.com too, lots of good info! I contacted A.P.T. for a Seminar near me, none yet they said to keep checking. I also printed up The Comprehensive Training Manual for the Tattoo Artist, has all the OSHA standards and great info on setting up a shop. Really like Eikons site, great machine information and printed the Cross Contamination Information. Trying to learn everything I can before I officially open in January.

open what.. a studio? you better get some time under your belt before you do that. this shit ain't no joke, i hope you will have partners that can tattoo anything that walks in the door because at this point, you cant. i don't know about you , but i would want to be at the top of my game before i hit the streets. no offense, but your tattoos look like an example sheet of font styles in which to choose from, its not just about "getting the tattoo on" there is an actual "art" part to it as well. i suggest you pick up a few lettering books and start practicing.
can you draw ? , paint etc?

Not really.. especially when you post pics of ur 2nd 3rd tattoo and ask questions throughout the forum. It is actually pretty easy to see what someone is like just by reading a few of their posts..
Are you considering opening a local shop..or working out of your basement/home?
Are you a woman in her 20's who lives in a smaller town of N.Y.
im guessing west of Albany? somewhat near Corning N.Y.

thats an easy one dude, very well spoken women from Syracuse around my age trying to make her mark in the tattoo world. we need more talented female artists, just trying to lead her down the right path thats all.
