Yes, I have contracted both a disease and an infection from both getting tattooed and tattooing..

I find that I cant shake it either, no matter how much Guiness I drink, or what I do. I feel compelled to spend all of my money on Tattoos and Gear, and draw all the time, and paint, and make myself better....to the point that some have said Im afflicted!!!!!

Ive been told that there is no cure for my disease....and the only way to keep from being driven insane is to keep drawing, tattooing, and getting tattooed regularly, or else I may turn into one of the sheep like masses that drives a Volvo, and plays golf.....

Okay, then, not really related to the getting of my tattoo, but.. after I had gotten my very first tattoo (an 8" x 6" fairy dragon on my outer thigh), I had to do some work out side and managed somehow to get chigger bites all over it (I think the little nasties are attracted to the blood)... anyhow, it was horrible, didn't mess up the tattoo (thank god), but itched like hell and had larger bite-welts where the tat actually was in comparison to the skin around it - and there was very little I could do about it (or knew to do at the time). I had to ride it out (for a full 2 and a half weeks of misery) and the tat healed much slower than it should. So, folks who live in areas where you find chiggers - be warned.

Also, I found that the areas where red or magenta ink was used healed differently from the rest - started out much more raised, itched more, and still feels slightly more raised than the rest (even after 4 years).

I also know of a tattoo artist in the area that contracted Hepatitis C from tattooing (or at least he claims it's from tattooing).

I got bit by a brown recluse spider on my shoulder cap tattoo about 4 days after I got it. Talk about fucked up!!! You can't tell it happened now, but it swelled up to the size of a golf ball, and that was just the begining of the nightmare. All said and done, my tattoo is fine, just a small dot without color. Diseases? Nope, not a one,

so she come back to 2 days later and it still looked bad, i asked her if she went to the doctor she said yeah....so come to find out she went in a tanning bed the day after she got it and thought if i cover it with a piece of paper towel it should be ok............one word......DUMBASS!!
