oil blackening

how is this done? im makin up some frames, and was wandering about this process. is it easy? does it take alot of time? would i be better off painting them? i really like the old school beat-up worn-out look on a machine. so if anyone can help i appreciate it

sure... heat up the frames with either a torch or an oven and then dip it in the most nastiest oil ( the shit that come out of your car with like 10,000 miles on it works the best), wipe it in and do it again until you get the disired results.. pretty easy..........

I used synthetic oil, gives the machine better mileage.
