i was really thinking about cc i was wondering what you guys thought about the clothes you wear in a shop. i don't touch my clothes when tattooing nor do i place what I'm tattooing on my clothes thats what rest are for. but you pants and shirt are both in the general area that is being tattooed so some airborne particles are getting on you thought the tattoo process and more so through out the day.
I'm thinking about getting some kind of apron to wear while I'm tattooing this will keep my clothes mainly clean so i don't track things into my car or my house. maybe have 3 i can change thought the day. what do you guys think about this i have not seen nor heard of this being done so what is your thoughts on it.
to me it seems logical look at doctors and dentist. i really don't think this is overkill either just looking into working more safe for myself and others. and you could have some cool looking aprons to with your shop logo and name on them. let me know what you guys think. thanks Chris

I think that sounds like a great idea. I personally use overalls. I use them and then bleach them with some color safe bleach. They work nice cause I can wear them by themselves or over some other clothes I'm wearing.

I use the plastic aprons myself. Thought it was a little overkill at first until one of my machines was acting up and some ink spit out onto my pants. Used the plastic aprons since.

Dont worry about it. Most CC shit dies in a few seconds anyways. Just dont get ink on your pants. Stains suck.

doctors and dentist are dealing with a totally different thing, they are at risk because most times they are making incisions to the skin, tattooist do not.
when you go to your doctor and he gives you a shot, is he wearing an apron no, yes he has on a lab coat, but that is part of his uniform.
i believe it is up to the individual, whether or not they want to wear an apron.
dont get me wrong CC is the most important, when tattooing. i'd rather give a shitty lookin tattoo, and be clean, then a good tattoo and be dirty, BUT however it is a better experience for both the artist and the client if it is a great tattoo and be clean.
i think if it was a real big risk factor your local health deparment would probably regulate it (which you might want to look into because they might)
now your worried about clothes, what about your face and your arms, or any exposed skin for that matter. like i said, if was a big risk factor, you would walk into a tattoo studio and see the artist dressed in haz-mat suits. so i wouldnt worry about it that much, but still be as clean as possible

i wear only a thong ..
pvc or latex...lmfao
You know i used to wear an apron, but found they are more hassle than what they're worth, like they make you sweat like a mo fo and seem to stick to bare skin (eg, resting elbow on knee etc).
A clean set of clothes is ample, it's very rare i spill anything on my self and never touch anything... last resort i keep a spare change with me.
I'll wear plastic sleeves if there's a chance of my arm rubbing on a client and will tolerate sweat for that.
