How do you bond the two together? It looks like solder but couldn't be strong enough.

What materials you are joining? Copper and steel? If so, use some saf-t-silv solder and braze it using flux. You can find different kinds of brazing rod or wire and flux for that rod at any home improvement/hardware store to join whatever kinds of metal together (save for exotic metals etc) You can use Mapp gas or, preferably, a little oxy/acetylene set up. You are talking about temperatures in excess of 1200 degrees farenheit so use some good judgement when working with this stuff...

U braze it! Mapp gas will work but it takes to long!I use a oxygen and acetylene set(i also use it to instal A/C's.....) or get an air /act. setup.I use stick solder as well.............

They run about $300 for the plumber/HVAC set...not including tanks and gas!

you could try cutting a slot in top of the contact screw then super glueing a coin into it... and heating it up. iv seen a few that look like someone has done exactly that... no idea how sturdy they are though but i guess if you turn the screw and not the coin it will work. wont cost anything at all to make either.

I made 3 brass contact screw/double penny combos this weekend just experimenting. Turned out awesome. I slotted the pennies and slid them together to form a cross and cross-slotted the brass screw then brazed it all together. I melted the shit out of a few pennies getting the heat right, LOL!
I'll post some pics tonight...

Mapp gas might be better for the c/c contact screws your making..wont get as hot. I tried making a c/s with a coin from peru or someplace by it and i totaly melted that sucker! It was an aluminum alloy with a copper coating on it!!
Oh , yeah i also make thumb screws too...

I just adjusted the flame with a #3 tip down as small as I could without it popping on me. I still have to be quick tho. That shit gets too hot with a quickness.
