View Full Version : Consistent line strength and direction??

Im having a problem with the above issues. I can line pigskin quite well but when it comes to lining living tissue I get inconsistent line strength and direction.

I think it might have something to do with the weight of my machine. I feel much more comfortable and in control when using stainless steel on pigskin but when I go to disposable my machine feels unbalanced and too light at the "business end"

I hope I dont get shot down in flames here but is there any safe way of using a stainless grip with disposable tips without having an autoclave. Is there anything on the market that weighs the same as conventional steel grips but is safe and disposable?

Many thanks.

Thanks for the reply. I guessed as much. Wasnt sure if there was a weight equivalent, disposable tube, available though.

Keep stashing some coin little by little, can't wait to buy a autoclave for that exact reason, the weight difference feels like night and day. Soon, soon

When I was using disposables, I used a fat slide-over grip made of silicone and that made it a whole lot easier to manuever the machine. (Just remember to wrap up the grip and tape it to avoid CC.)

that was my main factor in investing in a clave besides wanting to keep everything as completely sterile as possible...

disposable tubes suck imo for weight distribution.. it throws everything off and I had the same difficulties that you describe. a balanced machine can make a world of difference.

Clave is your only option on the weight, you can get gripless tubes that you can throw a S/S grip on for weight, but it still needs to be sterilised. I'd suggest getting use to using disposables on the swine as well. At the end of the day being able to drop it with a multitude of varying tubes/sizes and weights only adds to your tools.
Bear in mind, dispoables on heavy machines aint that great unless you have very rigid disposables.

and Ill also guarantee you that your grip still gets contaminated, probably not as messy but still contaminated...........

OK now who doesn't cover their power units adjustment nobs with finger stools or glove ends? to those who don't... do you ever fiddle with your PS controls with your gloves on or adjust during a session?? think.......

Im on a roll tonight, horses for courses...... disp are fine, as for machine balance, light weight machine head for Disp tubes, try em on something like a strongman and they'll flex (too much hang weight)

Im not a rich man but I have decided that a clave is the only option. I need one for the long haul for CC control obviously but it makes sense to be as comfortable working with my machines as possible, and to do that I dont see any real alternative other than stainless grips.

I've made my mind up.............................next on the shopping list "autoclave"

I most def like a heavier machine. It's easier for me to make smoother movements and small detail when neccesary. I use disposables with a stainless grip and I can tattoo for hours with no hand fatigue. It's also good for saving a significant ammount of money. My supplier charges up to three times more for 1 inch disposables. I can get a gripless tube for a lot less and with the stainless grip i get better grip and stability. You just gotta cover your grip and clean it on a regular basis to avoid cross contamination. Even if I had an autoclave I'd still use the disposable/stainless grip combo just because I like the way it feels. I'd probably just buy a few more stainless grips and clave 'em so I could save some time between tattoos.

Hey monkeyblood, you should be autoclaving yer grip too! Wrapping it up will not do the trick! You should clave the grip, the set screws and the freaking allen wrench you use to put it together! Cross Contamination is serious shit bro! Use disposables all the way or buy a clave! NO OTHER OPTIONS!!!

there are no other options..all things need to be claved. would you wrap your dick with barrier film for a hooker? CC is real important to understand and stop at all costs, for you and clients
