anyone got any tips for marrying brass and iron together, sturdy enough for a frame?? tried both ribets and screws, but none made sense.

Braze them together, you'll find you can get rods to suit dissimilar metals such as iron & brass

Drill, tap and bolt. You can then make it adjustable if you wish.
