What do you guys recomend for a client who gets a bug bite (or bee sting, or spider bite...). What do you do on your own tattoos when you get a bite or sting? How about poison ivy, poison oak, or stinging nettle type rashes? How should one go about treating irritations that occur on a tattooed area, both while it's healing and after. I had a client who got into some poison ivy real bad the day after I put a shamrock on his calf. While he slept (he claimed) he scratched at a pretty nice tattoo until he pulled color out (small chunks of skin actually). Now he has scar tissue spots in different places. Hell, I got bit by a brown recluse spider on my shoulder cap tattoo about six hours after I sat for the first session. All that remains from that nightmare is a tiny lil speck of skin in a patch of black.

bee sting ,spider bite leave it alone it will heal ok..
poison ivy or so on... you heard the results what happens, they itch it until there is blood coming out..one word calamine.. its either an anti itch cream
or itch the hell out of it..not much else you can do, besides these are mostly natures doing... ask a question about chemicals reactions then it gets tricky..

im pretty loaded down with tattoos, ive had pimples to beestings.the ink is now in my body so anything on surface usually heals no problem, pimples suk, spider bites are a bitch with or without ink.for the most part i think t depends on how old the tat2 is .if its fresh then your fucked ,if its old you should be ok ......i dont think they make meds that are "tattoo safe" so ask a dr. if its causing some discomfort.hope this helps

Benadryl gel and or neosporin or some sort of triple anti biotic ointment. If you have a recluse bite the venom is necrotoxic and there is not much you can do for the affected areas cept let it heal. Poison Ivy guy I would recommend lettin it heal then trying to reapply the ink to the areas that lost it, and advise him not to be doin freaky shit in the poison ivy....

I agree with STARMedic, but be careful about recommending medications. You don't what kind of allergic reaction they could have 2' to them. If its (the infection) bad, tell them to seek medical attention and come back to see you when it is healed. If some type of allergic reaction happens, STARMedic will be tubing them right after the benadryl. LOL:)

I recently broke out with a severe systemic case of poison ivy, all for one fucking trout in the middle of nowhere which was basically a poison ivy grove... I got bumps and shit but its all superficial skin irritation... the ink was not affected whatsoever.

I got chiggers in a two day old tattoo.. was horrid. I continued using the A&D and itched everywhere around it, but never directly scratched it. When it itched so bad I couldn't stand it, I flat-hand slapped the tattoo until the itching stopped. It's healed up fine, didn't lose any color, but it did take a while longer to heal than normal - about two weeks instead of the typical 4 to 7 days. I was afraid to use calamine or any other anti-itch creams or medicines simply because I didn't know how the chemicals in the inks would react and I didn't want to mess up my new tat. Don't know if that helps, but if so, Yay! Laterz.
