i am doing a dragon half sleave tomorow and up to now it will be the bigest tattoo i have done,i have used 7 liners before but i am thinking of using a 9 on this one,i want bolder lines, but am a bit unshore if it will cause unecesary trauma to the skin, will it be beter to just use a smaller set up and doble up the lines? or the 9 will be fine, thanks

I never have problems using 9's for bold lines. Sometimes they are more difficult at the points however.

I tried a 9 RL a while ago, but found that you have to go a lot slower with the big needle liners, else the lines dont come out that well?

I use 9 round tight like its going out of style, you get clean smooth lines, and less trauma to the skin due to the wider coverage area of the needle, alot less bleeding, i think once you run a smooth 9 liner it will be the needle of choice. as far as getting sharp tips, whisp at the end of a pull it helps sharpen points, and as for moving fast i run my liner around6.3 to 6.5 and gets clean lines, however with the larger needles you need to fill your tube more often so you arent able to pull as long of lines as with say a 5.

It's funny, when I first started out I used only 3RL then I swiched to 5RL liked them even more than the 3's then just 2 or 3 weeks ago I took a gamble and ordered some 9RL's from Technical, they sat there for a little over a week as I was a little nervous to use them, then I got a piece that was American Traditional and it called for some heavy lining and I figured what the hell and I gave it a shot, and DAMN... I LOVE THEM... It's hard for me to use anything less now unless I absolutly have to!!! See I still have some problems with lining, like some of my lines will still be a little shakey in certain areas, and 1 thing that I have learned, and I don't really know why but the larger the needle grouping on liners the easier it is to get a nice solid STRAIGHT line!!! I think you will LOVE them!!!

had a load of tribal done on my arm and the guy used a 3rs to line with and it looks great like a 9rd and filling in was easy becuse of the line thickness.
