Just a note to let everyone know to look out, especially here in TX and OK where we have had enormous amounts of rain. LOL, we are fighting a losing battle trying to keep the tarantulas out of the station here, and I was bit by a female widow spider a few days ago...

With the rains and off kilter temps the creepy crawlies are changin their behavior patterns, lol.....

Thats sucks, how bad was the bite? U.S. Tarantulas have a nasty attitude, mean little bastards compared to a lot of the S. American ones.

Bad enough that I had one of the others administer IV fluids, calcium gluconate, and penecillin. It gave me fever in the 103 range for 3 days solid, knees, elbows, and shoulders hurt at the joints so bad at times I thought I would just give up....chills, convulsions...the works....oh and lets not forget the muscles cramping and tensing.....

Wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy...

yeah i just relocated to San Antonio, TX .. still trying to get used to all the damn bugs... i thought Florida had alot.. but nothing like here.. right now there is some kind of cricket plague running through San Antonio.. they are everywhere...

now I know why the show King of the Hill has the guy as an exterminator.. because they are so necessary in TX.. lol

Wow sounds nasty, does any sort of ulceration form like from a brown recluse bite?

The bite was painless until +/- 16 hrs after when it welted up like a wasp sting with a pustulous center. After awhile the swelling and redness got to be about as big as a tomatoe and hot to the touch. The pain went all the way thru to the other side of the elbow. Then the bones started hurting, mostly the knees and then the elbows and then the shoulders, then the fever, convulsions, the lower back muscles and calves would spasm......no vomiting....

Guess Im lucky in that I dont need to go to ER's especially the ones we have to take people to. Our service already treats patients at a higher standard of care than the facilities we are required to transport to....So save a thousand or so dollars or whatever insurance co pay would set me back, provide my people with a training op and the chance to laugh at the boss...

man sorry to hear that. but dont forget to check your shoes, pockets on pant and shirts before you put them on. they like to craw in them just before dawn. past expierence. i was stationed in san antonio for awhile and if it was a spider it was a friggin cockroach. i hate them worse than spiders.

We get a few scorpians in the house and even found 2 of 'em in the car.
We also see tarantula now and then! Just a few weeks ago the wife stepped on a scorpian in the L/R and it didant sting her!
