sketching and doodling

Has any of you guys ever gotten around to putting up any of your sketchings or simple art? This may be a topic looked at before but I was just curious??I know of coarse ya have to worry about cheap assholes copying your shit and all and thats damn sure not why I'm asking! But, I know for myself pencil drawing is a big part of my wanting to tattoo in the first place, I always enjoyed just putting an idea down on paper and running with it. When I was a kid I would just grab up a Conan comic or something, find a cool scene and try and draw it.
And for any of you guys just starting out that havent already figured that out, its a cool way to practice, especially when ya' have a brain fart and cant think of anything to draw, even gives you some inspiration for something totally different that you never thought of, if your lucky!
Anyway just a thought, I know I have some sketches stuck away that I wouldnt mind sharing for free... HELL if you can tat' it go for it... I kinda like the idea of it being out there somewhere.

Of coarse we all have special pieces we reserve....hehehehehehe

When I drag out the sketch pad im usually at work with no inspiration around...I pull off my shoes and sketch em...then my feet...then my next door neighbors ass...then im usually thinking dirty as hell..by the time im done Ive filled up a sketch pad with crap I cant bring home to the wife...but ive thought about placing my line work on the web...maybe even get some feedback but most of the time my stuff gives headaches cause people cant figure out wtf it is lol

Thats kinda along the lines of what I was thinkin','cept I'm damn sure no computer wiz and I know they dont want pics loaded straight on here either, but I have noticed alot of people linking to other places where they hold their pics since the gallery has been down... I dont know...any suggestions? I think it would be jam up to do that once a week thing , and offer suggestions on each others original art, I know I can always use it. It will only make us better at the originality we all seek.:cool:

I personally just want critique on my art and figured others might as well...unless someone brings me a piece of flash or wants something I have purchased in a set already(which is very minimal ,i might add) I ask permission, or purchase it. Which again is very few and far between. That is the supreme reason why I wanted to tattoo in the first place.... something for MY art, as I have been drawing for years and never found an outlet for it. For me personally, you'll find that I am VERY ol' school in my values, things most have forgotten. HONOR, HONOR, HONOR is always first with me, HUMBLE, HUMBLE, HUMBLE is second. Thats the only reason I chose to hang in this forum to start with, I finally found some others that are of the same kind.

Id like to even start a monthly art contest.. Ill donate the 1st months prize.. and after that someone else can donate something... well just take turns offering a monthly prize for a drawing contest.. ok... so first contest will be "Biomechanical Skull"... prize to be announced this weekend...

And yes. I like the suggestion of the contest thingy, and the fusion piece ...that would be awsome, if anything it would be kinda cool to have all of us here on this forum working together on a piece, something to look back at years from now as people move on and stuff, ya' know.

Thats some nice work pookie, I like the death ride and leatherface pretty cool...I've been thinkin' on trying the brush and ink thing, I got a supplier like 15 mins from here that carries all colors in the bottle inks. Just aint made it up that way, I will soon though, my daughter is out of paint supplies too haha. I like the japanese influenced tiger design too...maybe could use some darker tones? I dont know...the look you have may be what your after lol..if so cool.

glad you mentioned the tiger design as i was thinking of making some deeper tones in there, especially the rocks as its way to light.

Would definetly but black behind the skull (were its all darkened) to pop it out more, also cast some shadows under the pipes an dgas thing connected to the nose.

yeah...thats what I was thinkin' too about the GigaTribe thing, I downloaded it but, Thats about all I could get going....I did notice there was a page to start a group...but ya' gotta sign in to it also...I don't know? I'm fine with just posting here....and if ya' do want to only share certain things because of it being such a public site, you can just maybe leave it up for a short period of time (enough for us to see it) and then go back and remove it. Awesome stuff though, im drawing a skull design up for a friend but it aint bio mech, were do you guys get your reference for the mechanical stuff around the skulls as i know its important to have the light and shadows in the right places for it to be its best

well for me....I just reference some Geiger art, some Aitchison...shit like that, than its just a matter of sitting down when the mood strikes me, and makin' up shit. I sat down and started doodling with the main skull profile and then decided to add some of those web and hole designs around it....and it just grew from there....I can usually look at a style, especially when its odd, spend a few hours studying the art....then things just lock away in my head and later I'll try it, and after a few trys I can get close...of coarse I always end up with my own kinda' comic book look to alot of it........I cant seem to break that....wish I could......but just try to keep a flow of patterns and throw some off the wall stuff in as you see it needs it....I dont know?....kinda weird I guess, for me lol.

Try adding some more depth with different gradients of shadeing, pick a definite direction of light and then work your shadeing from that reference point..........think shadows and textures,think about the thickness of area between two points that you are shadeing and shadow it to the same thickness,from really dark , at the point where they meet, shadeing out to the lightest, maybe you get what I'm sayin' lol, take your time too.That was always a problem I had. I was in too big a hurry to see it finished lol.
I really dig the star design, havent seen that before, cool. I hope I didnt come across like some wanna'be guru lol, just offering some tips.

Thats a kick ass design man, the only thing I would do to it is move the guys on the side in closer to the rest of the design an flip em around so there facing the opposite ways from what they are now, keep em on the sides there on now tho! Confused? I am!!!!LOL!!! That way everything will look like like its bursting from the center whaich I think looks really good with this style. Just an idea, i never claim to know what the f**k im talking about!!LOL!

thats pretty cool ....unique concept, I dont think I've seen any bio-koi's.....may be a little busy on the internal works , for say a tattoo....maybe make the condiut-like stuff inside a bit bigger, therefore making it cleaner looking, I dont know.......ya' know I'm new to this too, damn it lol.

Looks great man, the only bit that id have any doubts about is the bio-tipped water, in my opinion thats what makes it look too busy, I love the flat type headshape on it, killer design man!

I don't want to offend but apart from the excess detail, i really don't think it resembles a koi... It's head is more like a cat fish and it's got a sperm whales tail...
Ok it looks like fish but If you were drawing a dog you wouldn't draw a St bernard and say it was a grey hound....

another....this is my first attempt at i guess you can call it realizm. mind you i am only useing a standard #2 pencil, and printer paper. i noticed a few thing on this one after it was scanned, like it needs more tone, and i need to stay away from the hard lines in this type of artwork, but i think overall it came out better than i was expecting......so critisize the hell out of it.......

very nice to say what you used, then again i do portraits mainly with just 1 pencil lol
definetly add black under the frog....im not saying make all that shadow black but definelty directly under the body.
Also weres your light source coming from? as the 2 shadows give different direction.
very nice drawing all the same though dude, think im gona have to get round and do some stuff up as ya the only one puttin stuff up for critique lol

Thats pretty damn good there Kelly, maybe should pull some of the darkness off the eyebrow, thinnner maybe. But, that is a great peice of work. Sorry, I havent been in here much, I've just been scanning over stuff pretty quick lately, with the holidays here and all and a couple of tat's inbetween its been hectic, lol. if you have photoshop, play around with the gaussian blur filter to take some of the harshness off of a pencil work scan, then play with the levels (highlights, midtones, shadows)... might help... nice sketches btw
