I've had a few request to tattoo in eyebrows and I've had to turn the folks down because I'm not comfortable doing it yet. Just felt like I had to do some research and find out about it. Anybody got any experience with this or other cosmetic tattooing?

if you dont have the experience dont do it! first off you have to be certified to do any type of cosmetic tattooing, second, its not like tattooing other parts of the body the skin is very thin in that area the slightest mistake and you got blowout central.......i wouldnt recommend it..just my 2 cents.

I have a cosmetic tattooist not to far from where i am.

They're definitrly not pro at there job, by a long shot.

Some of the stuff i have seen done by this person made me cringe & swear.

Yet they are fully licensed? Or well... they got the council certifiactes on there wall?

As some one once said to me.

'Give em Tribal eyebrows!'

I think the machines arn't to far apart.

The differences are
1> The cosmetic tattoo machine works like an electric toothbrush with a needle hangin out and doesn't look to far off (Like homede machine stylie)
2>when they do the cosmetic you don't have to shave the area you are inking.
2a> Lighter pigments of ink.
3> Light scabbing

Now in my research I concluded
A>if you do ink the eyebrows do NOT outline it with Black ink or a 7RL and shade with a 24Mag.
B>Use a soft hitting machine and 3rl or 1rl liner with a light brown wash or very very light grey wash to mach clients hair. (Better having it too light than pitch black)
C>Shade the area fully with same ink but not to shallow or heavy with somin like a 3mag, Due to the tissue thinness don't use a round shader = Bad.

.. Oh and obviously wax (if their eyebrows are anything like my Silverback Brows) or shave area.

!!!And also cover the clients eye completely with Kitchen Roll and lightly surgical Tape down, This saves any running liquids fucking up the clients sight and your programme. as closing the eyes of not good enough especially if a tear of black ink rolls in there or they dont like the sight of seeing this machine puncture layers of ink into there face.!!!

Definatly, DEFINATLY do not overwork the area or anywhere near overworking it, Go anydeeper than 1milli (Also professional cosmetic tattoos fade quicker, I think its a 5year life due to how shallow the ink sits) as take it nice and slow.

And get it symetrical or she'll have a face like the Rocks eyebrow if the wind changed.

This in my opinion will and if you're skilled enough give the same if not better results.

Now you be fucked if she wants her kids names under them, If so cunt puch her.

I think personnaly if you treat it like the top of the foot and let the client know they gonna be having some scabby eyebrows for 2 weeks and will be looked upon as having leprosy.

You will be fine.

I will be doing mine once my damn wound has healed up and I can no longer put my finger through it.

I did alot of work into this, If anyone think me be talking bollocks, feel free to comment.

Cosmetic tattooist use hollow needles and a makeup dispersion ink..this accounts for the period of longevity in between periods of touch up..normally which is one year or less. the ink is placed less then one mm into the skin and is actually formulated to fade with time.
The machines I have seen in use vary quite a bit from my machines, these are pen type and have their own needles and needle sets. Remember this important thing, a woman will change over time, her style, her makeup, her attitude...
Sure any competant tattooist given time can learn to tattoo eyebrows, they do have seminars and they have cosmetic tattooist who do exactly that. I wouldnt necessarily call these ladies at a licensed beauty shop an artist though.
If there is one thing ive learned here from EVERYONE is dont be half assed dont rush and DONT do something if your not prepared...
'why even attempt this shit to begin with? the ladies I work with get the entire package for 300 bucks (lips, blush, eyebrows, eyeliner) and then go back for touch ups at 50 bucks a year.....
One last note...every cosmetic tattooist ive met or seen is a licensed cosmetologist as well(even if they suck at colorwork). I guess I'd rather see their license on the line then mine or my money....
my .02 cents...
PS they do sell CD's and entire kits for like 180 bucks if anyone is ever interested in doing cosmetic tattoing the proper way...

it's funny, "we" just got tattooing legalized in oklahoma as you probably know, but the cosmetic tattooing has been legal all along (and body piercing) i guess it all use to depend on your idea of "cosmetic".

mike............oh yeah slider, i think i'll pass on that kit. i just bought a $180 kit a month or so ago and so far i have about $4 or 500 into it and just getting started. no more "kits" for me!

Oh yeah dude..no kits..hex on that...but the only point i was trying to make is that they make tools for that cosmetic stuff, id rather see someone at least prepared with similar equip for the job...

I've got two Meicha machines for cosmeticmakeups. The needles are not hollow. They are very much grouped the same way as a coil machines needles.
The big difference is the ink used with them. Also the technique is different.
In normal tattooing you pass the same spot max 3 times when in cosmetic applying you can make something like about 10 passes to build up the color.
Eyebrows are still easy to make, but lips man they suck....

Using a hollow, vibrating needle, the technician applies the pigment into the top layer of the skin. Each time the needle penetrates the skin, a droplet of pigment is released into the hole made by the needle. You will feel a slight stinging...

of course, I realize that in the tattooing world theres more preference then a constant at work here, im sure they have more then 15 ways to kill a cat, but education and experience trump all else.
