I think im going venturing into making some machines, im looking for a place to buy good frame blanks with good geometry that i can carve up , does anyone know where i can get some good frames at a descent price? i would like them pre formed and drilled if possible.
i was thinking of looking for a local welder or caster, but im not sure, im open to suggestions....
thanks

Do not i repeat do not hit that link, if you do do not buy them unless you're prepared to put a lot of work into them.

Tyler Mason has far better castings, cleaner with less cleanup required. And if you're only looking at startin out you could always try some (pardon my swearing) ITS.

But for the love of all things merciful, steer clear of the B_Z unless you really really know what you're doing.

I have a few that were sent ot me for building up, and they'll be the last I ever do!!!! not worth my time messin with poorly cast *&%$

Serious!
I just got a cast bronze Jonesy frame through today off Mason and I couldn't be happier with his service... But i'll keep what you say in mind Andy.

Those frames from Mason do look sweet and well made!! As for buzz, I've heard plenty the same, brass is too soft and needs plenty of malet work!!!

i agree about the buzz frames needing allot of work, experienced builders only, however, you get what you pay for, the ones i got were less than 20 bucks a piece . all that extra " meat" leaves plenty of room for carving and customizing . i prefer to knock the frames down to "my" specifications rather than working withing the parameters of the mold of the "copy" that the caster took it from.this way i can balance out how it feels in your hand. basically i would rather have too much on the frame than not enough, such as the ITS frames.. fucked up dimensions and not enough meat on the frame to do anything with. also being that the coils are isolated from the frame the quality of the brass and the casting wont effect the running of the machine anyway. as for being too soft , i have several hours into a buzz supreme whacking on it with a grinder, dremel ect. and if if they were shit , i surely would have broke it.....

ok ...maybe i was a little rough on Buzz'es frames ..
they're great people ..decent prices ..but there is work involved ...looking back i actually had a good time fuckin with them .....
Mason's frames are tight ...no question ...but ...i'm sure he'll treat you right (??)...there were just way too many mistakes on orders & flat out lies ....
personal preferences ...burn me once ..o.k. ...twice ,i'm done ..
peace
Andy

I bought a Buzz copper mod costal and a pitbull liner.....good deal...but...the shader's a-bar wasnt hitting flat on the top coil and the back binding post shook loose.....so i sent it back to fix.......that was 7 days ago....havent rec the liner yet.....I really hope they run better than they look...cause their fukin ugly.......tape instead of heat shrink and the frame isnt finished at all.
I'll let ya know in a few days when i get em how they run......
If not I'll be sellin em and buying a set from Forgiven.

i dont mind cleaning some scag, and a little meat is good since i really want to be able to carve the hell out of the frame, thank you for all the imput, i have checked ebay, which i hate doing, and the only frames i find they want like 100 or better for 2 cast brass frames which i think is rediculous and as for ITS. there frames seem quite generic and every frame i have ever run into by them has poor geometry, i think ill give the buzz frames a try, thank you.

I guess the Buzz' are good for the money, but I'd rather save the time and effort and pick up one from P.F. for a couple extra bucks and you know it's machined perfect and has the right geometry. If you have to do so much work to get one of the Buzz' proper, why not just cut and build your own from steel? IMO

cuz its all about the aggravation!!!lol... to me, its just not very challenging if all the dimensions,( someone else's idea of where the coil screw holes should be) are already there. what do you learn from that? i don't fuck around too much with brass anyway, iron is still my fav.... they both have pros and cons... really like the sound i can get out a brass machine... almost like a hum.............

I bought 2 machines and had to send em back not great craftmanship, I kept the copper shader but still gotta tweak it, not my cup of tea.
he told me he scaled them back for $100 bidders "too bad eh". I see his point but WTF.
