View Full Version : Casting In A Microwave

I was looking for some casting info when I came across a forum that had a link to this guy named David Reid. He has developed a technique for using a household microwave for casting materials in excess of 1100 degrees celcius.
I appologize for not being able to supply the link. I am old school and not very adept at the computer (think if they gave Tarzan one) but if you Google David Reid Casting Techniques you will find the info.
My partner and I found it to be very intriguing. I can't wait to blow up a couple of old microwaves!

we do appreciate the info Tat2pete.. i found it.. and it is indeed interesting.. but if I read it correctly it states that in the tests the "process was not efficient enough to be really useful"
but definately interesting....
but I dont think Framey said anything out of line.. and he is well respected around these parts.. just FYI..
welcome to the board.. i do hope you stick around... i grew up close to lakeland... in Melbourne and Orlando... actually have an Uncle who lives in Lakeland...
