Yo Rot,

If you have a local butcher pop in and see if they have any old snapped bandsaw blades.
The standard steel ones are a spring stock, and from an old blade you'll get a shit load of springs, just be prepared to sand em back if you want to go thinner.

i made a few springs with banding strap.. not sure if thats the same as bandsaw, i think it is lol. takes a lil practice to be able to cut them all perfect but they do work. i hooked up a set up with my machine and it ran nicely but it sounded really old school more of a rattling noise than a smooth buzz but hey it still put ink in smooth and solid so thats the main thing. i like how it sounded myself but can see how some people or clients might thing it sounds out of tune or something. deff get some though its pretty kewl cutting your own springs and experimenting with length etc

thanks for info ink and krazy... it looks like i'll be doing just that. no luck on the other so far. As aussie mentioned earlier, thanks to our illustrious leader, we only send raw materials out of the country to buy them back later manufactured... or not, cause there's no corporate sized demand for them... whoops... nearly fell off my soap box.

Just go to a few Factories you'll even find lying outside some factories around the pallets.I've made heaps and still makes springs out of banding strap. They've all worked great and sounded normal the key to making springs outta banding strapping is to roll them dont bend "em" but i roll all my springs anyway

Probably a little late with this one, but RS Australia carries spring stock. A bit pricey though. I use banding strap myself, the fact that its free and in abundance the principle reason why. You can pick up a decent hole punch from RS as well. I buy alot stuff from them. The good thing about this mob is you can order online and they guarantee next day delivery. Sweet!
